Good Evening Boschong Subscribers, Late this afternoon I received, in the mail from Lena Fuller, the photo copies of the original marriage record for Andrew Bushong and Elizabeth Calvert. It is clearly written that her last name is Calvert and that this is the marriage record for Andrew Bushong. His signature is very clearly written as Bushong. Lena agrees with me about this so please everyone change their records. ----------------------- "This is to Certify that I am willing that my Daughter Elizabeth Calvert is to enter into the State of Matrimony with Andrew Bushong. Given under my Hand this Nineteenth Day of August 1796. Mary Wright, Her Mark" "To the Clerk of Shenandoah County Teste: Abraham Wright, His Mark" "The Within Certificate was proved by the Oath of Abraham Wright." "KNOW all men by these Presents, That We Andrew Bushong and Abraham Wright are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Robert Brooke Esq., Governor of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, to which payment well and truly to be made, to the said Governor, or his successors, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these Presents, Seal with our Seal, and dated this 20th day {August} of 1796. The condition of the above obligation is such, that, whereas there is a marriage suddenly intended to be solemnized between the above bound Andrew Boushong and Elizabeth Calvert now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said Marriage, then the above obligation to be void and of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
