    2. Boschong Subscribers, Sorting out the various Bushongs living in Menard County, Illinois is very complicated and I am not sure that anyone realizes how complicated this family seems to be. We have a John Lincoln Bushong who married in 1893 Carrie Sexton and they seemed to be married until he died in 1922. We have three Jefferson Bushongs and two Dale Bushongs. ----------------------------- We have an Alonzo Bushong who married a Carrie, maiden name unknown as she was married to a Tukins before she married Alonzo Bushong. State of Illinois ss Menard County In the Circuit Court of Menard County To the February Term, A.D. 1913 Bill for Divorce Carrie Bushong VS Alonzo Bushong To the Honorable Guy R. Williams, Judge of said Court: In Chancery Sitting. Humbly Complaining Unto Your Honor, your oratrix, Carrie Bushong of Petersburg, in the County of Menard, and State of Illinois respectfully shows that she is, and for more than a year last past, continuously, immediately preceding the filing of this bill of complaint, has been an actual resident of the State of Illinois. Your Oratrix Futher shows unto Your Honor, that on or about the 23rd day of July A. D. 1905, at Springfield in the State of Illinois she was lawfully joined in marriage with Alonzo Bushong of Athens in the State of Illinois, whom your oratrix prays may be made a party defendant hereto, and from thence hitherto, until on or about the 17th day of October, A. D. 1912, your oratrix and the said defendant lived and cohabited together as husband and wife. Your Oratrix Further shows unto Your Honro, that, as the fruits of said marriage, the parties hereto have had born unto them no children. Your Oratrix Further shows unto Your Honor, that since said marriage, and during all the time she lived and cohabited with the said defendant, she has treated him kindly and affectionately, and in all things at all times, conducted herself toward the said defendant in a manner well becoming a good true and virtuous wife. Your Oratrix Further shows unto Your Honor, and charges that the said defendant, Alonzo Bushong, has been guilty of extreme and repeated cruelty to your oratrix; that the said defendant, on divers days and times since their said marriage, has beaten, struck, pinched, choked, kicked and otherwise cruelly abused and ill treated your oratrix, and has used vile, abusive and approbrious language toward her, and has at divers times threatened the life of your oratrix, so that her life has been rendered miserable; and your oratrix shows and charges that on or about the 25th day of December A. D. 1910, the said defendant came home in a drunken condition and deliberately, with a loaded revolver shot at your oratrix with the expressed intention then and there to kill and murder your oratrix, and which your oratrix verily believes he would have done except for the intervention of neighbors. Your Oratrix, Further shows unto Your Honor, and charges that for a space of two years last past prior to the filing of this Bill of Complaint, the said defendant has been guilty of habitual drunkenness. Your Oratrix Futher shows unto Your Honor, and charges that ever since the said marriage she has conducted and demeaned herself toward the said defendant as a true, faithful, chaste and affectionate wife. I tender Consideration Whereof, And forasmuch as your Oratrix cannot have adequate relief in the premises, except in a cour of equity, where matters of this nature are properly cognizable and relieveble. To the End Therefore, That the said Alonzo Bushong may, if he can show why your oratrix should nto have the r elief herein prayed, and that he may full, true, direct and perfect answer make, (but not under oath, answer under oath being herby expressly wiaved) to all and singular the matters and things herein stated and charged. And May It Please Your Honor To grant unto your oratrix the writ of summons in chancery issuing out of and under the seal of this honorable court, to be directd to the Sheriff of Tazewell County, commanding him to summon the said defendant Alonzo Bushong by a certain day, and udner a certain penalgy, to be therein inserted, that he personally be and appear before this Honorable Court, then and there to stand to, abide and perform such order, direction and decree therein as to Your Honor shall seem meet, accoridng to equity and good conscience; And Your Oratrix, As in duty bound, will ever pray, etc. Carrie Bushong ------------------------------- Chancery Summons Menard County Circuit Court 16 January 1913 Carrie Bushong VS Alonzo Bushong State of Illinois ss Menard County The people of the State of Illinois, to the Sheriff of Tazewell County, Greetings: We command you to Summon Alonzo Bushong if he shall be found in your county, personally to be and appear before the Circuit Court of said Menard County, on the first day of the next term thereof, to be holden at the court House in Petersburg, in said Menard County, on the First Monday of February A. D. 1913, to answer unto Carrie Bushong in her certain bill of complaint for Divorce filed in the said Court on the Chancery side thereof. And have you then and there this Writ, with an endorsement thereon, in what manner you have executed the same. Witness, Ross A.
