Boschong Subscribers, Back in September 2008 we posted some information about Samuel Bushong. We weren't sure who he was. Thanks to Damon Hostetler, I now know that this Samuel Bushong was the son of John Bushong and wife Rachel VanVoorhis. George Bushong was the son of John Bushong and Janette Summers and he married Lydia Rush. In the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th Day of June A.D. 1812 for the term of ....and continued in actual service in said War for forty days that he has heretofore made application for Bounty Land under the Act of (he thinks) 28 September 1850 and received a Land Warrant No.....for forty acres, which is legally desposed of and to which application he now refers. He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the additional Bounty Land to which he may be entitled under the Act approved 3rd March A.D. 1855. He also declares that he has never applied for nor received under this or any other Act of Congress any Bounty Land Warrant except the one above mentioned. George Bushong We, L. On this 20 day of January, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy two, personally appeared before me Clerk of the District Court of said County a court of record within and for the county and State aforesaid, GEORGE BUSHONG aged Eight four years, a resident of Lynn Grove, county of Jasper, State of Iowa, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is married; that his wife's name was Lydia Rush, to whom he was married at Ross County, Ohio on the 11 day of February, 1807, that he served the full period of sixty day in the military service of the United States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical GEORGE BUSHONG who ..............
