Part 2 of 4 --------------- Shenandoah County Virginia Deed Book 9 Pages 5-6 31 December 1868 Powells Fort property - Elizabeth McInturff Bushong Woods, husband Ephraim Woods and son Andrew J. Bushong This Deed made the 31st day of December 1868 BETWEEN Ephraim Woods and Elizabeth his wife who was the widow of Jacob Bushong deceased and Andrew Bushong the only child of said Jacob and Elizabeth Bushong of the one part, And William Bushong of the other part. WITNESSETH that for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred dollars to them to be paid as follows: $300 in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and $200 Six months from date of this deed evidenced by bond bearing even date with this Deed without interest until due and payable. The said Ephraim Woods and wife and Andrew Bushong Do Grant unto the said William Bushong all their right and title in the Dower of said Elizabeth Woods who was entitled to Dower as the widow of said Jacob Bushong deceased before her intermarriage with the said Woods and the said Andrew Bushong conveys all his rights to his reversionary interest in said Dower rights. The said Dower right is in a certain tract of land lying in Powells Fort and charged in the Land Books of Shenandoah County to the estate of said Jacob Bushong deceased as containing 100 acres more or less. Said Andrew Bushong also conveys all his interest in said 100 acres. AND the said granters hereby Covenant that they have the right to convey their respective rights in said Dower above described that the said grantee shall have quiet possession of said real estate, that the said premises are free from all incumberances, and that they will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed. William was married to Rachel Clem. Andrew J. Bushong married Amanda Foltz in 1875 and after being involved in too many court fights over land, left the beautiful Valley of Virginia in the spring of 1893 for Indiana where other relatives resided.
