    1. [BOSCHONG] Bushong, Stover and Neidig - PA, VA, OH
    2. Good Evening Boschong Subscribers, I have been under the weather the past two days and spent most of today in bed but am feeling better for the moment. It seems to come and go in spells. While lying in bed, I got to thinking about the Bushong, Neidig and Stover connections and something suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks. Looking at the facts about David Bosang of Augusta County, VA, (BOSCHONG Archives January 2005) Jacob Bushong and Juliana Weigel of Augusta County, VA, Jacob Bushong and Eve Bossert and John Bushong and Barbara Kreighbaum of Stark County, there are some very striking coincidences. Or are they just coincidences? We think not. We think Strasburg, VA where Jacob Bushong and Eve Bossert were married is the key to a very complex family puzzle involving the Bosangs/Bushongs and the Stovers. That was the place where Peter Stover founded Stovertown. Peter Stover was married to Frainey Funk which should be a familiar couple to this List since they are the couple who was involved with several Deeds with David Bosang. When Peter Stover died in 1799 there were eight children named in his Will. We believe that there were at least nine children, possibly more, and those not named in the Will were already dead. One of his children, we believe, was the father of Anna Stover, the wife of John Bushong and the reason he was not named in the Will of his father, is because he was dead before John Bushong married Anna Stover. If you remember correctly Anna Stover had a guardian named Jacob Unger when she married. We believe this Jacob was probably married to one of the Stover girls who were sisters of Anna's father which would make that Jacob Unger an Uncle to Anna Stover by marriage. Some researchers have said that Anna Stover's parents were David Stover and Elizabeth Strickler and we know that Stover and Strickler are very prominent names in the Valley of Virginia. Check the BOSCHONG Archives for July 2009 for all of the Stover marriages. John Bushong to Anna Stover Guardian Jacob Unger 1 March 1805 Some of the group of Bushongs from Pennsylvania, passing through Virginia to Ohio, settling in Stark and Carroll County, Ohio married into the Stover and Niedig families also from Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio. Some were immigrants. Look at the names on the passenger list below which are very familiar to this Bushong family. Check back on my posts of January 2005 about the Bushong who became a Bosang. David Bosang Arrived in Port of Philadelphia aboard the ship "Two Brothers" from the Port of Rotterdam having stopped at Port of Portsmouth for supplies. Name shown on passenger list A, B, and C is shown as: Teobalt Bossong/Theobald (X) Bossong/Debalt(X)Bosseng He signed the Oath of Allegiance to the King of England with his mark (X). The ship's captain was Thomas Arnot. (Our added research) Among the other passengers on the ship were: Mattheis Dischong {Bushong} William Dischong {Bushong} John Frederick Schuy {Later as Shue/Shoe} Johann Peter Hahn {Also Haun} Johannes Neydig {Neidig} Johannes Schey {Shue/Shoe} Jacob Haun David Bosang made his way from the Port of Philadelphia to the York/Lancaster County PA area where he married Barbara Suess. He has a son named John who took out a license for an ordinary while in York County who later shows up in Staunton, again running an ordinary. He also has a daughter named Margaret. They make their way down to Virginia with evidence of them in the Strasburg, Frederick County, Virginia area with several Deeds and then down to Staunton, Augusta County area where David Bosang died leaving a Will under the name of David Bosang. He married twice. Once in Europe (wife's name unknown)with how knows how many children and then second in Lancaster County, PA when he married in Lancaster County, PA and states that he is a widower. His wife was a widow when he married her. When the family is living in Frederick County, Virginia Peter and Frainy STOVER execute a Deed to David Bosang for a lot in STRASBURG misspelling the name badly. But it is him. Since this is THE Strasburg, where Jacob Bushong and Eve Bossert were married, don't you find this a little more then a coincidence???? 1762 JULY 26 ------------ Frederick County Virginia Deed Book 7, Page 281 Deed from Peter and Frainey STOVER to Devault Busing {DAVID BOSANG/BUSHONG} 1/2 of Lot #44 in town of STRASBURG.
