Boschong Subscribers, Have several irons in the fire going at once. Doing some research with a fellow researcher on Catharine Bushong who married Abraham Ream trying to determine whether there is a possibility that Catharine married after the death of Abraham to an Ault and went to Indiana as we had found some information on Ancestry to that effect. Also working on establishing all of the children of John Bushong and Barbara Kreighbaum. I would appreciate some input on the List please about this subject. I have been trying to sort out the various Bushongs in Stark County to place those that belong to John Bushong and Barbara Kreighbaum as their children. While doing this, we are wondering if the daughter Christina age 22 in the 1850 census is the daughter Mary who married George Frank in 1850? Christina only shows up in that one 1850 census, there is no marriage or death date on her and no burial place. To add to this, the daughter Mary shows up no where in the 1850 census and yet we know she is the daughter of John and Barbara because she is named in her father's Will as Mary Frank. So is it too ridiculous to consider that Mary's full name was Mary Christina Bushong who married George Frank even though Mary never used a middle initial? It would not be the first census record for Bushongs where they used one first name in one census and a middle name in the next. We spent all of this morning going through various census records page by page for 1810 trying to find John and Barbara in Ohio or Northumberland County, PA. We did not find him in Northumberland as head of a household but we did find George Persong/Bushong. I believe I have address him on the List before as I believed that he was connected to John of Stark County. We also found some men with misspelled names that could be Bushongs, one of which could be John Bushong of Stark County. Those names are: John Bounson, John Brusson, John Delong, Daniel Bouson, Jacob, Peter, George, Daniel & Andrew Bostian, Jacob, Samuel and John Delong, Jacob Roshong, William, Mathias, and Philip Persing. Most of the names that show up in Stark County in the next census are in Northumberland County, PA in 1810 and one name really caught out eye because of something we had put on the List sometime ago. The surname Brosious. Here are all of the early census records for John Bushong and wife Barbara showing the number of children and their age range and sexes. Would love to have some discussion on the List about whether all of these children are theirs and if so, what makes you believe that to be the case. Is there any paperwork evidence? Can we reconcile all of the children with the various census records, starting with the 1820? The only ones we definitely have a slam dunk on are Andrew, Mary, Barbara, Elizabeth, John and Jonathan although we are still pondering over two boys being named John and Jonathan in the same family.
