    1. Re: [BOSCHONG] Catharine Bushong, wife of Abraham Ream Jr. - Stark County, Ohio
    2. Good Morning Boschong Subscribers, On the last post about Catharine Bushong who married Abraham Ream, we said that we thought that most of this family had died after the 1850 census and before 1860. Another Ream researchers says that isn't true. Armed with this new information and spending all of yesterday morning, afternoon and evening team researching, going back and forth with Phyllis, we both concur that for the moment, until otherwise proven incorrect, we are going with the following information as being Catharine Bushong, even though we have a few qualms with no definitive proof that Catharine Bushong Ream, widow, went to Fulton County, Indiana and married again to John Ault. According to the Ream researcher who submitted their information to Family Tree Maker, the following is true: ---------------------- Abraham J. Ream died 29 January 1852 in Stark County, Ohio. {We have nothing to prove this since all the newspapers that we put on the last post did not say deceased, except the reference to the sale of his land in 1855} This bothers me since according to this researcher the widow Catharine (Bushong) Ream married in Fulton County, Indiana 26 April 1853 before her husband's estate was even settled. ------------------------- We have called Stark County Ohio Probate and county library trying to track down the Will of Abraham Ream and his probate and neither has it (old records are kept at the county library in their genealogy room) and we learned that ALL of the chancery records for Stark County have been missing for about 30 years! The girl at the library says she believes someone threw them out and they did not keep any electronic records or microfilmed records of any of it. What idiot did that! ----------------------------- We called the Fulton County Indiana health department and courthouse who was very helpful and neither Catharine Ream's marriage nor her death records have any genealogical information that would help us establish that this woman in Fulton County, Indiana is Catharine Bushong who married Abraham Ream but we can't say that she isn't either since there is some evidence that she is. We are still hoping to find an obit on her. ------------------------------ CRONICHIALOGICAL ORDER OF EVENTS Stark County, OH - 1850 census: Abraham and wife Catharine (Bushong) Ream are in Stark County with their 6 children: John, Samuel, Abraham, Mary, Joseph, Lydia, and Adam. {Previous post} ------------------------------- Stark County, OH - Abraham Ream died 26 January 1852 but is called Abe J. Ream. Have found no place of burial nor death record in Stark County, Ohio. ---------------------------------- 14 August 1850 Fulton County, Indiana - A young man named Samuel Ream died at the age of 18 years 2 months 22 days and is buried in Fulton County cemetery. This might or might not be the son of Abraham Ream and Catharine Bushong. Samuel was enumerated with his parents in Stark County in September 1860, a month after this boy died in Fulton County so this may be a different Samuel and pure coincidence that two boys were born around the same time frame. ----------------------------------- Fulton County Indiana - A marriage took place on 26 April 1853 for Catherine Ream and John Ault No ages or parents given on marriage record according to the Fulton County clerk that I talked with.
