    2. Thanks Alvie for keeping me on the straight and narrow. Always appreciate your input. Even with all that is said and done, it doesn't change the fact that war records were lost, so not all of the soldiers who served in the original Revolutionary War or the War of 1812, were recognized. They are the lost heroes of that generation. We are aware that some records were retrieved by those soldiers that applied for pensions later on, but some soldiers spent years trying to prove to the government that they did serve because of the loss of those records. George Bushong comes to mind when he wrote letters for years to get his pension. Some were never recognized by the government as serving. Gloria

    3. Proving service many years after the fact was a difficult thing for soldiers trying to apply for pension. Especially if the soldier was very, very old and all of his comrades had died.
