Forgot to thank Rick. One more thing. I found some information on a government site. I posted the marriage of their daughter Charlene to Delbert Eugene Nixon Jr.. She now goes by the name Charlene E. Boschong Subscribers, I was told by Rick that Henry Almond Bushong was the son of Donald Willis Bushong Sr. and Edna Horsley. In the BOSCHONG Archives is the following obit which mentions a Henry and Almeta Bushong of Ohio. ----------------------------------------- Emmett Messenger (Idaho) December 2008 Ronald Eugene "Ron" Bushong Ronald "Ron" Eugene Bushong passed away on Dec. 19, 2008, at the young age of 65. To honor our father's wishes, there will be no public viewing, no chapel services and no reception following the graveside services. Dad wanted only to be back beside Mom. A procession of family and friends will leave the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett, Idaho, on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at 1:45 p.m., and we will honor Dad at the Emmett Cemetery at 2 p.m. Dad was born Sept. 23, 1943, in Marion, Ohio, to Don and Edna Bushong. He grew up in Ohio, and on his 17th birthday joined the United States Army and would honorably serve his country. Dad believed everyone should always put in an honest day's work; have love, dreams, passions and goals in their life; and then it was time to focus on the fun stuff. In the spring of 1967, he met Patsy, a young Kentucky girl, who would become the love of his life. Just a few short months later, on his 24th birthday, he would marry her and together they would raise three children and have a life full of love. They found themselves in Ohio, Florida, Michigan, back in Ohio and then Idaho, the place they would both call God's country and home. They came to the Emmett Valley in 1978 and never wanted to leave. Dad's passion in life was his family, never believing he could ever do enough for us. Dad's dream was to work for himself, and in 1977 started Bushong Services, often putting in 18-plus hour days and becoming a much respected businessman in the Treasure Valley. He often said he had the honor of being acquainted with some of the most wonderful people he would ever meet while painting some of the most beautiful homes one could ever imagine. The most challenging and rewarding part of his job though was when he began doing custom wood lacquering and finishing; to him it was an art. After the work was done, Dad found time to have fun. For quite a few years, he was a member of the Moose Lodge where he met friends who would last a life-time. He enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, a day driving through the mountains, backyard barbecues and was always up for a good game of horseshoes. He enjoyed family get-togethers and getaways and always looked forward to a "quick trip to Jackpot." He adored Mom, loved his family and cherished his friends. Those of us who already miss him are his daughter, Rhonda Bushong of Emmett, son, Darrin (Patricia) Bushong of Meridian, Idaho and daughter Sharon (Robert) Clark of Emmett and 11 grandchildren; his brothers, Ernie (Susie) Bushong of Emmett, Don (Gun) Bushong of Nampa, Idaho, Henry (Almeta) Bushong of Ohio, Phillip Bushong of West Virginia and Tyrone Truijillo of Ohio; and his sister, Vicky Sisk of West Virginia. There are many nieces, nephews and friends who will also miss him very much. Dad was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ann Bushong; his parents; and three sisters. We want everyone to know how much we appreciate all they have done for us and for Dad. There is just no way of putting it into words. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dad's name to the Emmett Food Pantry.
Good Beautiful Evening Boschong Subscribers, I have posted much about the family lineage of William D. Bushong Jr. See BOSCHONG Archives for May 2007, October 2009, November 2009, November 2011, and February 2012 to name a few. I decided to find an obit for this fine young man and here it is. There is a discrepancy as to exact date of death on some sites. I believe the official record at the bottom is probably the correct one. He might have been wounded on the 9thof October but he died on the 15th of October. --------------- 1900 Federal Census: Tennessee Morristown Town, 6th Civil District, ED 58, Hamblen County Enumerated 5 June 1900 Page 58B, Sheet 6 Lines 60-64, HH 116/118 William D. BUSHONG WAS KILLED IN ACTION ON 9TH OCTOBER --- WAS POPULAR WITH HIS MEN AND INSPIRATION TO SOLDIERS AROUND HIM ------- In a letter received Tuesday received Tuesday by Mr. M. C. McCanless and written by Landon Peoples, assistant chaplain of Company K, 326 Infantry, word was sent that William D. Bushong Jr., of the same company, which had gone to the front 6th October, had fallen in action the third day of battle on 9th October. Lieutenant Bushong was 26 years of age, and enlisted some years ago in the coast artillery. After leaving the service, he was engaged in electrical work for two years in New York City. On August 1916, he joined the 11th Infantry, seeing service on the Mexican border. From the 11th Infantry, he was sent to Camp Gordon, where he received the commission of Lieutenant. In April of 1918, he was sent with the 82nd Division for France, and after a few weeks preliminary training in that country, was continually on the firing line. The letter from Mr. Peoples stated that Lieutenant Bushong had been immensely popular among his comrades, and by his cheerful morale, and brave spirit had proved an inspiration to the soldiers around him. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Bushong and two sisters Mrs. Cecil McClister and Mary Bushong. His mother mailed his Christmas carton the morning before the news of his death was received and expressed her uneasiness since he had not written in several weeks. Boschong Subscribers, I received this comment from a subscribers about how the Bushongs that live in Canada could have arrived there originally. I have no knowledge one way or the other of how this happened or the religion of those Bushongs. Just presenting this from another Subscriber. Believe me, I would love nothing better then to test the DNA of some of these Canadian Bushongs. ------------ FROM SUBSCRIBER: Gloria. I was watching a documentary of the American Colony Revolutionary War of 1776 to 1783. That's when British General Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown. The American Colonial Loyalists nearly one-hundred thousand, had to pack-up and leave their homes and businesses on British ships, and either went to Nova Scotia, West Indies or other British Colonies. My thought is the Bushong's in Nova Scotia and other eastern parts of Canada may of been Colonial Loyalists that started their lives here as Colonists. Only if we could have a few to join our DNA program, along with their history in North America. ------------- Wikipedia: Nova Scotia The American Revolution (1775–1783) had a significant impact on shaping Nova Scotia. At the beginning, there was ambivalence in Nova Scotia, "the 14th American Colony" as some called it, over whether the colony should join the Americans in the war against Britain and rebellion flared at the Battle of Fort Cumberland and the Siege of Saint John (1777). Throughout the war, American privateers devastated the maritime economy by capturing ships and looting almost every community outside of Halifax. These American raids alienated many sympathetic or neutral Nova Scotians into supporting the British. By the end of the war a number of Nova Scotian privateers were outfitted to attack American shipping.[30] British military forces based at Halifax were successful in preventing American support for rebels in Nova Scotia and deterred any invasion of Nova Scotia. However the British navy was unable to establish naval supremacy. While many American privateers were captured in battles such as the Naval battle off Halifax, many more continued attacks on shipping and settlements until the final months of the war. The Royal Navy struggled to maintain British supply lines, defending convoys from American and French attacks such as the fiercely fought convoy battle, the Naval battle off Cape Breton. After the British were defeated in the Thirteen Colonies, its troops helped evacuate approximately 30,000 United Empire Loyalists (American Tories), who settled in Nova Scotia, with land grants by the Crown as some compensation for their losses. (Nova Scotia was divided and the present-day province of New Brunswick created). The Loyalist exodus created new communities across Nova Scotia, including Shelburne, which was briefly one of the larger British settlements in North America, and infused the province with additional capital and skills. However the migration also caused political tensions between Loyalist leaders and the leaders of the existing New England Planters settlement. The Loyalist influx also pushed Nova Scotia's Mi'kmaq People to the margins as Loyalist land grants encroached on ill-defined native lands. Approximately 3,000 members of the Loyalist migration were Black Loyalists who founded the largest free Black settlement in North America at Birchtown, near Shelburne. However unfair treatment and harsh conditions caused about one-third of the Black Loyalists to resettle in Sierra Leone in 1792 where they founded Freetown and became known in Africa as the Nova Scotian Settlers.

Funeral services depend on brother. One of East Liberty's esteemed citizens, Job Bushong, died near 3 o'clock Wednesday morning following a stroke of apoplexy and paralysis. On March 22 Mr. Bushong was stricken with apoplexy after which he never regained consciousness and death was not unexpected. The good man will be missed by citizens of the community where he had long resided for his life was a useful one. He had been a member of the Methodist Church and a citizen staunch and true. Mrs. Mary Welch, a sister, reached home but recently from St. Cloud, Florida where she has been spending the Winter, and was present at the bedside of Mr. Bushong with the wife and other kindred. W. H. Bushong, a brother of the deceased, and wife of Bellefontaine, who are wintering in St. Cloud, are hastening home, and upon the time of their arrival, depends arrangements for the funeral. Job Bushong was born on July 30, 1853, near West Mansfield, the son of Jacob Bushong and wife and had resided the greater portion of his life in Logan County. He had lived in Lima, Springfield and Urbana, returned to East Liberty from the last named place last November. The deceased was twice married, the first wife, who was Mary Wren, passing away some five years ago. Mrs. Lavina {Josephine} Alsbaugh Bushong, the second wife, remains. The children of Job Bushong are Charles Bushong, of Lima; Mrs. Will Grubbs and Mrs. Benjamin Cook, of Bellefontaine; Ora Bushong, of Springfield, and Mrs. Cora Krause of Columbus. Two brothers remain besides the brother and sister named, Milton Bushong of East Liberty, and GEORGE BUSHONG, of Elkhart Indiana. Mr. Bushong would have reached the age of 68 next June. He had always been an industrious citizen and his days were filled with labor. A kindly, good-hearted man is gone. ---------------- Researched and Submitted by Gloria Neiger Bushong
Boschong Subscribers, A subscriber who lives in Ohio pointed out something that is incorrect in this obit. I appreciate that subscriber so much for pointing this out as there is no Andora, Ohio, I found out. This was a newspaper error. Nellie was born in Pandora, Putnam County, Ohio, so here is the way the obit should have read in the newspaper, if they had not made that error. It's funny because I actually checked out Longbeach, Florida since I had never heard of it as a Florida native, but it does exist.
