    1. Re: [BOSCHONG] What is the relationship between Duncan McArthur & wife Nancy & John Beshong? - OH
    2. Jason Wallace
    3. Hello All,   This is certainly an interesting question and I do appreciate seeing the deeds and wondering what relationships there were between these people. My very brief thoughts, which I will hopefully have time to explore further sometime, follow.   According to Ohio History Central, among other sources, Duncan McArthur was once governor of Ohio, a pioneer, surveyor, military man, and wealthy landowner. Incidentally, Nathaniel Massie was also an early surveyor and associate of Duncan McArthur. Duncan McArthur's wife was Nancy McDonald.   Is it possible that the relationship between Duncan McArthur and John Bushong was forged through their shared military experience? This is only speculation on my part at this point, but I do enjoy speculation.   Keep up the good work in making this information available and providing this forum for discussion and consideration.   Thanks again, Jason Wallace ________________________________ From: Russell Bushong <chochoruss@aol.com> To: boschong@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, May 20, 2013 6:32 PM Subject: [BOSCHONG] What is the relationship between Duncan McArthur & wife Nancy & John Beshong? - OH Boschong Subscribers, I have lots of thoughts and questions after posting this 1821 Deed.  What was wife Nancy McArthur maiden name? Was it possibly Bushong? And if she was a Bushong did she first marry a Mitchell? OR Was if she was not a Bushong but married to a Mitchell before marrying Duncan Mitchell could this  John Beshong of the Deed be the Mitchell son adopted into the Bushong family and became John Bushong? Or none of these. No one can really honestly answer those questions. Even a birth record is a church does not prove the same person without a tombstone or obit as that child could have died. It's just a educated guess based on assumption. And since there is a Mitchell connection, all possibilities should be explored. Transcribing this 1821 Deed between Duncan McArthur and wife Nancy and John Beshong, got me to thinking and it does bring up some questions. What was the relationship between the McArthurs and John Beshong? This was definitely a curious Deed. Back in that time frame, most Deeds were between family members and it is very odd that Duncan McArthur and wife would turn over all this land to John Beshong for one dollar after fighting so hard alongside John Beshong in chancery to get it. We won't really know for sure until more of those Ross County, Putnam County Bushongs are DNA tested. There is definitely more to this story then meets the eye. And since I am not so sure about some of the early lineages attributed to Andreas with no real early documentation,  there could have been a mistake in the research. Thus the Mitchell DNA. Sorry about that folks but that the facts of the matter. 1. [BOSCHONG] Obit for Virginia Alice Jones, d/o Greenville Warner Bushong & Cora A. Barker - MO & California
    2. Russell Bushong
    3. Boschong Subscribers, My sympathy to the family of Virginia. Notice that they have Virginia's father as George Bushong. This is not correct. Her father was Greenville Warner Bushong and her mother was Cora A. Barker. See BOSCHONG Archives for November 2011 for the obit and census records. -------------------- The Bakersfield Californian Bakersfield, California Sunday, 19 May 2013 OBITUARIES VIRGINIA ALICE JONES 1 April 1922 - 13 May 2013 Virginia was born 1 April 1922 in Almartha, MO. She was the youngest daughter of George and Cora Bushong. Virginia went peacefully to her heavenly home on 13 May 2013. Virginia met and married her "Army Man" William E. Jones (Bill) in Kansas City Missouri in July 1953. Together they raised three children, David, Warner, and La Don. Virginia, being the devoted wife, travelled with Bill all over the United States while he was in the Army. They were stationed overseas twice in Germany. This was one of the favorite times of her life. She loved to talk about it. When Bill retired from the Army in 1965, they moved to Bakersfield and made it their home. Virginia was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and also a friend. She went out of her way to attend every function her grandchildren had. She attended their sporting events, choir concerts, school functions, church functions and anything else they wanted her to do. She attended church camp with her granddaughters every summer. I'm not sure who looked forward to it more, Virginia or her granddaughters. Virginia was a devoted Christian who attended church her whole life. She spent over 35 years attending Highland Church of Christ where she would meet the ladies who would become her lifelong friends. Together they organized everything from weddings to funerals and everything in between. She was always one of the first to arrive at church, (usually after picking up one of the older members) and always one of the last to leave. She never left a task for anyone else to finish and always took the initiative to make sure the job was done. Virginia is proceeded in death by her parents, George and Cora Bushong; her beloved "Army Man", William E. Jones; her son, Warner Allen White; her brothers, Doin, Hasten, and Leo; her sister, Retha; her son-n-law, Orville Scholl. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Scholl, her son, David Jones; her granddaughter, Tammy Patterson; her granddaughter and husband, Melissa and Donnie Britt; grandsons, Allen and Clinton White; great grandchildren, Jeffrey (and wife Leslie), Shelby, Kendra, Austin, Dylan, Tyler, and Emma; great, great grandchildren, Mikey, Matthew, and Hayden. Virginia was loved by everyone who knew her. She left a legacy on this earth that is carried on through the generations. She was, by far, the best grandma we could have ever asked for. Her memory will be with us forever. We love her and miss her. We will honor her by living for others, like she did. We are comforted knowing we will we meet again in heaven. Visitation for Virginia will be Monday, May 20, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary (9109 Kern Canyon Road). Services will be held in the Chapel at Hillcrest on May 21, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. ----------------- Researched and Submitted by Gloria Neiger Bushong

    1. [BOSCHONG] The subject of the Bosang surname - Bushong Bulletin 1986
    2. Russell Bushong
    3. Good Evening Boschong Subscribers, At the beginning of the month, I gave a report on the DNA project. I will give another report as soon as the final results of all three of those Bushongs, I mentioned in that report, are available. Remember this is not a public DNA project and the only people who can see the results are those who took part in the testing and actually test Bushong. If you test out to be another surname, you will not see those Bushong members that you do not match. If you are unhappy with my administration of this DNA project, please e-mail me privately and we will discuss it. In that report the 1st of May, I mentioned the Bosang results. Some of you may wonder where in the world did I ever get the idea that the Bosangs were Bushongs. Well, I will tell you. Straight out of the BUSHONG BULLETIN, a publication edited by Carol Willsey Bell, devoted totally and entirely to the Bushong surname. This publication is no longer in existence but I have every single copy. I will be more then happy to make a copy of this particular 1986 Bulletin and snail mail it to you or scan it to you via e-mail if you want to see it. THE BUSHONG BULLETIN Spring 1986 Volume 2 No. 1 Page 9 EDITOR AND SUBMITTER OF THIS BOSANG MATERIAL: Carol Willsey Bell, CG Page 9 of the Bushong Bulletin is devoted to the surname BOSANG and Carol Willsey Bell was the submitter and never once on that page or any other page did she state that she thought that they were NOT Bushongs! Never a word in the entire Bulletin or in future Bulletins. She also never made any statement in any of the Bulletins that she had made a mistake and that the Bosangs were not Bushongs. So, THAT is where I got the idea that the Bosangs were probably Bushongs and I did the research and submitted it to the BUSHONG List. So why an entire page in the Bushong Bulletin with nary a peep about this being a mistake? She never ever e-mailed me to say I was wrong. NEVER. And it wasn't until DNA testing came along and we were able to actually test a Bosang did we know for sure the final answer. Now can we forget the past and move on from here, please? 2. Russell Bushong
    3. Boschong Subscribers, This was a surprise. Rick alerted me to the death certificate for Ida Mae Bushong. Thanks Rick. Ida Mae Rambo Bushong's tombstone is in the cemetery in Knoxville, Knox County, Illinois without the death date but sadly she is buried in Missouri. The poor woman probably bought the tombstone while she still lived in Knox County, Illinois never expecting to wind up in a nursing home in Missouri with no family to tell them where she should be buried. ------------------ HENRY COUNTY MISSOURI DEATH CERTIFICATE #59-028828 Deceased: IDA MAE BUSHONG Aged 88 years 10 months 20 days Female, White, Widowed, Housewife Date of Death: 10 September 1959 Place of Death: Clinton, Henry County, Missouri - Moores Rest Home, 901 North 2nd Street Cause of Death: Arteriosclerosis Spouse deceased. 3. Boschong Subscribers, I found William and Ida in the 1900 census a few minutes ago so here is the revised post. Disregard the previous post. 3. Well, well. We have conflicting information. Two Williams and two divorces. An official marriage record in Illinois naming parents of William and some census records with another William in Missouri close to the same birth year who is divorced and then remarried.
