    1. [BOSCHONG] Dr. Burnis and Thelma Bushong of Avon Park, Florida
    2. Russell Bushong
    3. Boschong Subscribers, I found this article about our old and dear friends Burnis and Thelma Bushong when they were celebrating their 65th wedding anniversay several years ago. Russell and I met Burnis and Thelma back in 1999 when we were organizing the very first Bushong Reunion at New Market, Virginia. Everyone was so excited about that first Reunion! For some years we had a little lunch bunch group of Bushongs that met down in Sebring and I treasure those memories. Since at that first Reunion, we were planning a short service in the barn on Sunday morning, we asked Burnis to honor us by being our chaplain for that service. We were so pleased with his talk about God and family as was everyone else, that this continued until Burnis's health interferred. I still keep in touch with them and hold them in very high esteem. ---------------------- The News-Sun Sebring, Florida 29 June 2011 Bushong Dr. Burnis and Thelma Bushong of Avon Park celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary recently with their family and friends. They were married 9 June 1946 in East Liverpool, Ohio and also started their 20-year Latin American ministry that year. Burnis and Thelma have lived in Avon Park since 1994. They currently reside at the Oaks Village. They have three children, Lois, David, and Robert; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burnis (Burnie) has been past president of the Avon Park Rotary Club and past chairman of the board of Avon Park Camp Meeting. He served several years as Missions chairman at the Community Bible Church and at times supplies the pulpit. Dr. Bushong is a graduate of Vennard College and Drake University, both in Iowa. Thelma is also a graduate of Vennard College. In 1977, Burnis received an honorary doctor of divinity degree from Asbury University, Kentucky. He also was an adjunct professor at Taylor University, Indiana. In 1992, Dr. Bushong served as interim president of Vennard College. The Bushongs served as missionaries on the Texas-Mexico border, in Honduras and in Bolivia. >From l966 until his retirement in 1992, Burnis was part of the administrative staff of World Gospel Mission in Marion, Ind. For more than 20 years he was vice president of Field Ministries. He has traveled in more than 60 countries. Thelma served as his secretary and frequently traveled with him. Burnis is the author of two books published by World Gospel Mission, "The Best of the Story" - miraculous answers to prayer and "Reaching The Unreached Now" - a brief history of World Gospel Mission. ------------------ Researched and Submitted by Gloria Neiger Bushong

    3. Well, silly ole me. I had posted this obit back in October 2011. Sorry, I've been distracted the last couple of days with the threat of what is now Tropical Storm Andrea which is now on top of us with heavy rain and winds. It developed from the remenants of Barbara that had developed off the coast of Mexico in the Pacific, moved across Mexico into the Gulf of Mexico between Cancun and Cuba and then redeveloped into what we have now, Tropical Storm Andreas. It is getting a little stronger so still might develop into a hurricane before it's all over with. The storm bands moving in woke me up at 4 am this morning. We are on the East side of the storm which is the heavier rain and stronger wind side. Hope it stays a tropical storm but 60 mile an hour winds are nothing to sneeze at and now we are under tornado warnings for at least the next two days. Just so thankful that yesterday was the last day of school for the grandchildren but the poor teachers have one more day. GB

    1. [BOSCHONG] Family of Harold Hamilton Bushong and Blanche Irene M. Luna - MO
    2. Russell Bushong
    3. Boschong Subscribers, Back in October 2011 I posted the trials and tribulations of Harold Hamilton Bushong who was falsely accused of a murder he did not commit. What a nightmare that must have been for him and his family. Harold Hamilton Bushong was the son of Marion Andrew Bushong and Nancy Ellen North and the grandfather of Noel Bushong. Noel knew very little about his grandfather. I would ask for prayer for Noel Bushong as he has some serious health issues that he is dealing with at this time. 2. Russell Bushong
    3. Good Afternoon Boschong Subscribers, I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of me and my research. Last month I posted a very small notification of the death of Linda Bushong. There was not enough information to be able to identify her and I wasn't going to guess. I just received a telephone call from the cousin of her Bushong husband, to tell me that Linda was the wife of his cousin Marvin Eldo Bushong who died in 2007. He said his cousin Marvin was a lot older then his younger wife Linda and this seems to fit. This Marvin Eldo Bushong was the son of Marvin Haston Bushong and wife Beulah Mefford. Beulah was the daughter of Russell G. Mefford and wife Lora found in the 1930 census in Ozark County with her parents at age 15. Thanks so much to Joe. 1. [BOSCHONG] 2010 Obit for Everett Ray "Buck" Moore - Bastrop, Bastrop County, Texas
    2. Russell Bushong
    3. The Austin American-Statesman Austin, Travis County, Texas Friday, 27 August 2010 EVERETT RAY "BUCK" MOORE Everett Ray "Buck" Moore died at his Bastrop County home on 25 August 2010. Buck was born to Albert Benjamin and Mae Belle (Horn) Moore on 13 August 1919 in the Burnet County community of Briggs. At age 4 he was given the nickname "Buck" by the local blacksmith who said he couldn't remember the name of the boy that often visited and quietly watched him work. He was Buck ever since to all he met and knew, except his Mom who reminded everyone that she named him Everett. He grew up hunting varmints, picking cotton (not very good at it), exploring the area in his donkey cart, and cowboying with his Father, who worked on the Fever Tick Control Program during the height of the Depression, throughout central and west Texas. At the age of 16 he became the man of the family on his Father's death and helped move them to Austin before joining the Army Air Corps to serve in World War II. Buck was a mechanic and flight engineer in B 17 and B 29 bomber pilot training program stationed at Roswell, New Mexico, and flew with the new pilots throughout their training and first solo flights. At the suggestion from his brother, Odas, Buck started corresponding with Billie Louise Sullivan, a daughter of Zachary Taylor Sullivan, who ran a country store in the San Saba County community of Chapel. On furloughs they met, dated and then married on 18 June 1944. Buck and Billie lived in Roswell until the end of the war. They returned to Austin where he soon began wholesaling groceries for the Guggenheim Goldsmith Company to the small communities around Austin. Buck began working for Robert Bridges at Austin Feed and Ranch Supply, a Purina Feeds store located at Third and Neches and spent the next 16 years selling feed to the rural families of central Texas and making lifelong friends of those he served. He opened his own feed store, Buck Moore Feed and Supply at 5237 North Lamar in 1972. Buck's passion was to help his customers and he often said, "I can do without your business, but not without your friendship". He retired in 2000 but Buck Moore Feed continues its traditions of quality and service now owned and operated by his son-in-law and grandson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Billie Moore and by his parents, his brother, Odas Moore, sisters Iris Williams, Letha McAndrew, Aleece Fewell, their spouses, and many other family members and friends. He is survived by sisters Iva Rue Montgomery and Bennie Mae Wimberley, daughter PATTY BUSHONG and her husband KEN {BUSHONG}, son Billy Moore and his wife Kathleen, grandchildren Tommie Bushong, his wife Ashley and their children Meagan and Nathan of Bastrop, John Bushong, his wife Dejah and their children Tommy and Vella of Oakalla, and Zachary Moore and John Moore of Bastrop, and numerous family and friends. Visitation will be on Friday, August 27, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home at 2079 Highway 71 East. Services are scheduled for Saturday, 28 August at 10:00 a.m. at the same location with graveside services at Fairview Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Buck's name to Hospice Austin. ------------------- Researched and Submitted by Gloria Neiger Bushong

    3. Now, in the previous post, I asked the question of how siblings could be executing a Deed years later, on a piece of property that was obviously inherited by them. This adds to the mystery. In this Disbursement accounting of Guardian John Bushong on behalf of the Heirs of Anne Bushong, it states that John paid the taxes on the property on behalf of her heirs. My question is why, if he were the father, of these two, would he be paying taxes on a piece of land that obviously he did not own, and they did by inheritance? This obviously has to be the piece that originally belonged to Jacob Bushong and they later sold. Just asking. ----------------- Hancock County Ohio Guardianship papers for Simon and Barbara Catherine Bushong The Heirs of Anne Bushong in account with John Bushong DISBURSEMENTS 16th May 1842 - $3.00 - To Monies paid for obtaining letters of Guardianship of said heirs as voucher (No. 1) 17th May 1842 - $3.62 1/2 - Expenses attending Court on the business of said Heirs. 11th December 1843 - $5.18 4/5 - Paid taxes on Real Estate belonging to said Heirs for Voucher No. 2 12th December 1844 - $2.32 - Paid taxes on said Real Estate per Voucher No. 3 21st April 1845 - $1.00 - Clerk Baldering fee for issuing letters of Guardianship as per Voucher (No. 4) 21st April 1845 - $2.10 - Simon Rodabaugh receipt for taxes as per Voucher No. 5 2/3 of $26. 95, the amount of all the produced raised on the land of said Heirs between the years 1842 and 1844 inclusive. $24.63 1/3 ------------- $61.86 1/2 36.95 - Deduct - Credits -------------- Balance Due said Guardian $24.91 1/2 JOHN BUSHONG, His X Mark ------------------------- TO BE CONTINUED: ------------------------- Researched by Mareetta Brewer and Transcribed and Submitted by Gloria Neiger Bushong

    3. Boschong Subscribers, In today's mail I received some Guardianship records that Mareetta Brewer had copied for me while she was in the Hancock County courthouse. Thanks so much to Mareetta. See BOSCHONG Archives for April 2009, September 2009 and October 2009 for further information on this family. If you remember correctly, I had a question about a land grant for Jacob Bushong with a legal description that matched identically with a Deed executed later with siblings Simon Bushong and Barbara Bushong with the same legal description. So how did they get this land in the Deed if they were not somehow connected to this Jacob? Still just asking. -------------------- No. 86 Guardianship Page 140 HANCOCK {COUNTY} PROBATE Guardianship of SIMON BUSHONG BARBARA BUSHONG JOHN BUSHONG, Guardian KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we John Bushong, John Hodge and Joseph A.
