Boschong Subscribers, I am waiting for some paperwork to come from Columbiana County Ohio. When it comes I will be sharing it here and on the Facebook page. I believe everyone is enjoying the scans to the Facebook page. I am jumping all over with them trying to make everyone happy. Russell and I were always very excited to see the original documents from the Courthouse records when we obtained them. The original records tell you so much more then other sources which leave out Witnesses, neighboring property, etc. Please keep my friend Phyllis Hopper in your prayers. She has some serious health issues that she and the family are dealing with now. If you don't know who she is, then you haven't been in Bushong genealogy long as she helped out CWB a lot and Phyllis's contributions are in the Bushong Bulletin. You may recognize her as Gramagator. :) Gloria Neiger Bushong
Boschong Subscribers, Looking at this census record, there is a son in the household between the ages of 10 to 15. I am thinking that possibly this is the father of the John Bushong who married Barbara Kreighbaum and went to Stark County, Ohio. After scanning and sharing on the Bushong Reunion Facebook page, the copies of the original Will of Peter Bushong Sr. and the 1859 Deed for Peter Jr selling to David Bowman, I just noticed that I had put the wrong son's name in as selling the inherited land from the father Peter Bushong Sr. The son selling the land was Peter Bushong Jr. not Philip Bushong although the Heirs of Philip are mentioned in this 1859 Deed since the Peter Sr. land was at one time all one big piece divided up among the Heirs of Peter Sr. and by 1859 the son Philip was dead, thus the mention of his Heirs. Gloria
No one has identified this Philip Bushong, as he is still being ignored. And since I was told that this is not the Philip with the Washington County, Maryland Will, then who is this? See BOSCHONG posts for March 2007. Boschong Subscribers, How many of you knew that Carol Willsey Bell was a subscriber of the BOSCHONG List from it's inception in December 2004 until her death in 2010? I'll bet not many knew this but she was. She wanted to make good and sure that I did not copy from her Bulletin unless I made reference to the issue. Now, with that said, Carol scrutinized everything that I put on this List, so do you really think that I copied information including obits from the Bulletin onto this List without giving the Bulletin credit? Hardly. Not with her looking over my shoulder. In most of the obits in the Bushong Bulletin you would notice, if you have them, that there were rarely any day of week or columns on the obits in the issues. I, on the other hand, almost always, unless it was cut off, put the the name of the newspaper, city and state of origin, day of week, month and year and the page and column on the obits I researched and posted and that was to distinguish my research from that printed in the Bulletin. That's how I can tell and you can tell, if you look, if my obits were copied onto another website. I was subscribed to Newspaper Archives for a very long time and as you well know, if I couldn't find the obit there, I would contact the public library to order an obit. Sometimes subscribers submitted their own personal family obits. And the first obits in 2004 that I posted came from our research in Virginia not copied from the Bulletin. We made trips to Harrisonburg, Staunton, Edinburg, Winchester, Culpeper, Luray, and other cities to copy the obits from microfilm at the various libraries. We had a lot of fun doing it as we checked out the cities, restaurants, historical societies, cemeteries and libraries. Check out the post for 12 October 2005 and you will see that I made reference to Carol as she contacted me after I posted about Sarah Bushong married Harrison Peer and I acknowledged her correction and found the correct husband for her which was Philip Bushong, a cousin. Carol only contacted me when there was a mistake which I always thanked, acknowledged and corrected. Cheerio! Gloria Neiger Bushong
Boschong Subscribers, For those of you who are Facebook members, and have seen the scanned copies of the original records of Frieden's Reformed Church which Russell and I copied on one of our Virginia trips, and I recently posted to the FB page for the years 1825, 1826, 1827, 1833 and 1846, here is some additional information sent to me by Jim Funkhouser after I asked a question of him about the church's pastor. The church records we researched helps to prove the residency of those Bushongs and is a supliment to the census records and tax records made available on FamilySearch. This additional information explains where Frieden Church (Russell and I have been there) was located and tells you that Rev. Graves came from Union Town Maryland. None of this information was ever in the Bushong Bulletin. Gloria Neiger Bushong -------------------------------- >From Jim Funkhouser: “By 1815 the services of worship were transferred to the newly erected Hottle-Keller schoolhouse, located approximately one mile south of Mount Olive.
