    1. [BOSCHONG] Obit for Gloria J. Salmeri, d/o Clarence Bushong & Fern Anna (maiden name?)
    2. Boschong Subscribers, We went back in the BOSCHONG Archives to see if we could find additional information on the lineage of Gloria Bushong Salmeri and discovered that we had posted information back in April 2010 about her family. She is part of the Henry Bushong and Ruth Hamilton lineage in Jefferson County, Illinois. LINEAGE: Probably John Bushong and Eleanor Rush Henry Bushong and Ruth Hamilton John S. Bushong and Naomi Angeline Dees George Warren Bushong and Inez Rightnour Clarence Bushong Sr M/1: 1923 to Bertha (maiden name unknown. Was it Neidhardt?) M/2: 14 June 1932 to Fern Anna Krinkle We do seem to have a mystery. Gloria's father Clarence Bushong was married to Fern Anna maiden name, not sure. I am still trying to figure out why two maiden names are shown for her in two different obits, that being, Krinkle and Neidhardt. In Gloria's obit it list her mother as Fern Anna Neidhardt but in her father Clarence's obit, the name is listed as Fern Krinkle. So, was her maiden name Krinkle and after the death of Clarence did his wife Fern marry a Neidhardt or was Clarence's first wife's maiden name Neidhardt? The Mount Vernon Register-News Thursday, 19 January 1961 Page 2, Column 1 DEATHS FORMER RESIDENT CLARENCE BUSHONG DIES; RITES HERE Funeral services for Clarence Bushong, a former Mount Vernon resident, will be held at 1:30 pm tomorrow at Myers Chapel with the Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. The body will be in state at Myers Chapel where friends may call after 5:00 pm today. Mr. Bushong died Tuesday at her home 4400A Laclele in St. Louis. He was 62 years 2 months and 15 days old. Mr. Bushong was born 2 November 1898 in Waltonville. He was married to Fern Krinkle, who survives. Other survivors include two sons Raymond and Clarence {Jr.} of St. Louis; four daughters, Mrs. Audrey Rich and Mrs. Nina Rich of Mount Vernon and Donna and Gloria of St. Louis; his mother Mrs. Inez Johnson of Mount Vernon; and three grandchildren. ----------------- Note: Mrs. Nina Bushong Rich later married Donald Peacock. ----------------- Researched and Submitted by Gloria Bushong

    1. [BOSCHONG] Liz Bushong- Volunteer Decorator of the White House in DC
    2. Boschong Subscribers, We found this very interesting article about Liz Bushong and thought it was worth sharing. She has appeared on television on DAYTIME with her recipes and ideas. Does anyone have any idea how she fits into the Bushong family? ------------------------- The Herald & Tribune Jonesborough, Tennessee 13 December 2010 Area resident helps decorate Presidential home for the holidays Liz Bushong in the China Room at the White House. By Kristen Swing Executive EditorLike many of us, Johnson City resident Liz Bushong recently spent several days decorating for the holiday season. But while the rest of us were draping garland and lights along our front porches, Bushong was busy turning the White House into a Christmas spectacular. “I was fortunate enough to be invited last year as a volunteer decorator and blessed to return again this year,” Bushong said. “It’s a dream come true.” Bushong’s road to the White House began nearly seven years ago. “I was floundering around trying to decide what on earth I was supposed to do with all these creative abilities and skills God has given me,” Bushong said. “I was watching TV and, for some reason, the White House popped into my head.” After a little research, Bushong learned about the opportunity to decorate the White House for Christmas. “It’s a process. You actually have to apply,” Bushong said. “I have a whole file of rejection letters. It took me about 7 years of applying to get approved and accepted.” Last year marked Bushong’s first visit to the White House as a volunteer decorator. “I didn’t know what to expect,” Bushong said. “I didn’t know what we’d be doing. All I was told was to show up at 7:30 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving and expect to work for five days.” Bushong spent much of those five days in the floral shop making bows to be put throughout the interior and exterior of the White House. She even earned the title of “bowologist” for all her efforts. “This year was a little different. We were assigned to rooms,” Bushong said. “I was assigned to the China Room, which is where all the past presidents ’ table place settings are. Every administration has its own china set.” Bushong was particularly excited to be assigned to the China Room because that was where pastry chefs were busy building a gingerbread replica of the White House. “I have a cookbook out called Just Desserts and I love any time I can be around the pastry chefs and gingerbread houses,” Bushong said. Shortly after Bushing arrived, the gingerbread house was moved to the State Dining Room in the White House and she and other volunteers got to work decorating the room. The China Room, with its white walls and red accents, was adorned in baby blue, fuchsia and wine colored decorations. “We were really worried about how it was going to look at first,” Bushong said of the color scheme. “But when we were finished, it was the most stunning room I’d ever seen. All of this year’s decorations were very elegant and exciting. It really stimulated my creativity.” Although Bushong didn’t catch a glimpse of any human members of the first family, she said Bo, the White House’s canine resident, was hanging around. “He was adorable,” Bushong said. “He was prancing up and down the halls of the lower level with his trainer. He was very poised.” As a part of the holiday décor, a team of decorators even created a life-size replica of the pup, using 40,000 black and white pipe cleaners to create the Portuguese Water Dog, Bushong said. In all, 97 volunteers took part in decorating the White House for Christmas, representing 27 different states. According to Bushong, four of the volunteers, including her, were from Tennessee. “Being invited to decorate a second year was truly overwhelming and I am very grateful,” Bushong said. “I am honored to have the opportunity to decorate the ‘People’s House’ this Christmas season.” For more about Bushong, visit her website at _www.lizbushong.com_ (http://www.lizbushong.com) . -------------------------------- Researched and Submitted by Gloria Bushong

    1. [BOSCHONG] Philip Bushong, son of Peter Bushong and Barbara Wenger - Shenandoah Co. VA
    2. Good Evening Boschong Subscribers, I trust everyone had a nice Christmas. We have posted quite a bit about Peter Bushong Sr. and family and you will have to refer back to the BOSCHONG Archives for November 2005 and March 2006 to refresh your memory as this post concerns the son Philip Bushong and his deposition concerning land of his father Peter Bushong. This Chancery Record was instituted in 1828 when Jacob Whitmoyer died. He owned property next to Peter Bushong. It was interesting reading and can be read on-line at the Library of Virginia. ---------------------------------- Shenandoah County Virginia Chancery Record , Case #1846 - 029 Instituted 1828 settled 1846 Administrators of Jacob Whitmoyer VS David O'Roark et al DEPOSITION OF PHILIP BUSHONG, SON OF PETER BUSHONG Deposition of Philip Bushong - 1830 Philip Bushong of lawful age after duly sworn deposeth and saith: QUESTION BY THE PLAINTIFF: Were you present when O'Roark land was surveyed? ANSWER BY PHILIP: About seven or eight QUESTION BY THE PLAINTIFF: How long was the land which was taken in by the survey you speak of in the possession of your Father at the time the survey was made? ANSWER BY PHILIP: About 38 years {Note from Gloria: Peter Bushong bought the land in 1793. I think I sent you that Deed} QUESTION BY PLAINTIFF: Was your Father's tract a part of the tract of land which O'Roark conveyed to Whitmoyer and did your Father purchase of O'Roark? ANSWER BY PHILIP: It is a part of the same tract that was purchased by my Father of Stoutemoyer about 38 years ago but do not know how long before that time it had been taken from the original tract. And further the deposeth saith not. Philip Bushong, signature QUESTION BY THE DEFENDANT: Did Cal Rinker in making the survey between David O'Roark's line of Peter Bushong make a corner at a black oak and walnut in the sink hole? ANSWER: Yes QUESTION BY THE DEFENDANT: Was the corner in the sink hole of your Father's corner? ANSWER: It was not the corner which my Father had shown me as his. QUESTION BY THE DEFENDANT: How far is the corner which was shown you by your Father as his corner in the sink hole & what sort of corner is it? ANSWER: About five poles from that corner and the tree on which it is marked is a white oak. QUESTION BY THE DEFENDANT: Is the white oak the corner which is designated in your Father's Deed? ANSWER: I think it is. And further the deposeth saith not. Philip Bushong, his signature ------------------------ Agreeable to an order of a Court of Chancery held for the county of Shenandoah in Woodstock on Wednesday, the 10th of March 1830. She received severe injuries from which we understand she is recovering. She had been married in Maryland and was on her return, having gone from this place on horseback. Her hat was about falling off her head, and she dropped the reins to catch it. Her horse was frightened by the sudden movement of her hands, and gave a quick jump by which she was unseated. Her horse ran into the woods and while Mrs. Coverstone's foot hung in the stirrup her head came in contact with a tree. It was a sad ending of a lively bridal tour but it was fortunate that she escaped with her life. ----- 1880 Federal Census: Virginia Johnston Township, ED 85, Shenandoah County Enumerated 25 June 1880 Page 418B Lines 42-47, HH 406/423 M. JANE FEAGAN Mrs. Jane Coverstone Feagan passed to eternal life last night at 10:30 at her home on West Greenup Avenue after an illness of less than three weeks. Mrs. Feagan first suffered an attack of influenza from which she rallied and was thought to be recovering when pneumonia developed, causing her death. She was a native of Virginia but had lived in Ashland for the past 18 years and has reared a splendid family of sons and daughters. her industry and courage in the support and education of her family have made her life a beautiful example of mother love. She had the friendship and highest respect of all who knew her. Three sons and three daughters survive. Gary Feagan, the eldest son, was for years employed here by Charles lordier, the druggist. He now is located in California, and is unable to come to attend his mother's funeral. Guy and Dewey, the younger boys, are at home. Of the daughters, Mrs. C. B. Wilson lives in Columbus. The unmarried daughters are Misses Mary and Ina Feagan. The funeral will be conducted from the home next Sunday. The hour for the service has not been announced. The sympathy of all those who for years have been interested in the Feagan family is extended to the children in their irreparable loss. Part 1 of 4 ------------------- Boschong Subscribers, We were recently contacted by a Coverstone descendant and when we looked in our BOSCHONG Archives, we realized that we had not put much about Elizabeth Bushong, daughter of John Bushong and Magdalena Bauserman or her family on the List although we did research on them long ago. Elizabeth Bushong married Isaac Coverstone and died when only 30 years of age and her husband Isaac Coverstone then married Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Clem. Here is my research on the family. I am adding a few Coverstone tombstones to the Photo album.
