Boschong Subscribers, We found this History of Tom Brooks on the site that Calvin Sonner maintains. Thanks to Calvin Sonner for this great research. Among the congregation is Savilla Bushong nee Wendel, wife of Isaac Bushong. I'm sure this book is probably in the library at Edinburg. -------------------------- HISTORY OF TOMS BROOK - 1905 The Strasburg News Strasburg, Virginia St. Peter's grew out of old Frieden's, the first preaching being held in a schoolhouse above the station. The people living in this section at first worshipped at Frieden's as they did for many miles around, and old Frieden's was a union church Lutheran and Reformed. It was in 1842 that the old log church on the hill was completed by the joint labors of the Lutherans and Reformed congregations and on May 28-29, 1842, that first church was dedicated. The services began at 10 a. m. on Saturday and the following ministers were present; Lutheran -- The Revs. S. Nicholas Schmucker, John B. Davis, James R. Keiser, Lewis Eichelberger and A. R. Rude. Reformed -- The Revs. I. Heller, John S. Kessler and H. St. John Rinker. The old record says that "the concourse of people being very great" preaching was held in both the church and schoolhouse. At 10 a. m. the Rev. Mr. Schmucker preached and also the Rev. Mr. Hell in the Church and in the schoolhouse the Revs. Messrs. Keiser and Rinker ........ con.......Union church. At 3 p. m. the sermons were preached by the Revs. Messrs. Rude and Eichelberger. At these dedicatory services the Revs. Messrs. Rinker and Keiser also preached. At this time officers of the church were: Elders --- William Crabill and Christian Windle. Deacons -- David Schwartz and Ferdinand Schmucker. Clerk -- Charles Maurer. The congregation was small in number at this time to judge by the communicant roll. On April 27, 1844, the Rev. J. F. Campbell, D. D., took charge of the congregation, and June 9 of the same year the first complete roll of membership is recorded as follows: Christian Windle, William Crabill, David Schwartz, Ferdinand Schmucker, Samuel Cronk, Reuben Kneisley, David Crabill, John Keller, George K. Crabill, Samuel L. Crabill, Jonas Crabill, Samuel Doll, William Doll, Peter Nossett, Elias W. Boschong Subscribers, Keep in mind that this posted information about burials is just a small portion of the different Bushongs men that are buried around the United States. Many are in cemeteries that were destroyed by man or livestock roaming over them, or are on private land that is not accessible to the public and where tombstones are not readable because of weather and age, so please don't be locked in to this being the only Georges, Johns, Henrys etc that are buried out there. Your relative may not be among these few shown so don't go assigning them to your lineage unless you are absolutely sure beyond a shadow of a doubt. Gloria

Gloria, I could not find an interment for any Bushongs at the Crest Lawn Cemetery in Altanta, GA website. If you can verify Glenn's final resting place, I will follow-up with pictures. I will gladly visit local Georgia cemeteries to capture tombstone pictures if you can give me some recommendations or guidance. Oh Joy, Thanks but I have posted so many posts and that was so long ago, I can't even remember what I titled them just the contents which would have been George and Linnie, Mary Elizabeth married to a Burgeon (can't remember his name now) and who knows what else in the area of Dallas and Grapevine, Tarrant County, TX and a lot of newspaper articles from the Dallas newspapers. The sad part is just last week, I went through and deleted almost all of my SENT mail as I had thousands and I thought it was bogging my computer down. Now I'm sorry I did that! Gloria

Gloria, I save most of your emails so if you can give me a hint as to the heading of that email information, I will forward what I have to you. Someone has removed my all of my research from the Archives concerning the George Bushong family of Grapevine, Tarrant County, Texas. As you well know I do my own research. I spend hours and sometimes day going through census records and cemeteries. I spent hours going through old newspapers on-line. I had put a bunch of obits and other newspapers articles that I personally found while subscribed to Newspaper Archives about that Texas Bushong family and they have been removed too. This is not right! That information is of public record and you know it is my research if it quotes the page and column for the article except in rare exceptions where the page number is not clear or I forget to write down the column. No one has a monopoly on any of the Bushong family history. Thanks for the moral support. I was shocked when I went to find the tombstones information that I had put on the List for this family so that I could add it to the List I just posted to find there is nothing on that line. Type these words Grapevine, or Linnie or Ralphana, or Burgeon in SEARCH and you will see what I mean. Nada except for the reference to the photos I put in the photo album at the same time I posted all the information. A woman in Texas had sent me a couple of CD's on the family but I did my own research rather then copy her stuff. I think I know who is responsible but not sure what can be done. I'll just look for my notes on that family and repost everything I can find. Did anyone make copies of that particular line by any chance? It will take me hours to go through everything I have done over the past 6 plus years for the List to find it as I use legal size pads to hand write everything out and I have hundreds of them. I hate to have to re-do work as there is so much yet to put on the List! Gloria
I totally agree with you, Beverly! Gloria is a 'digger' bar none!! And so generous to share everything she finds. We all appreciate you, Gloria and you know I consider you a valued friend!! It is immensely beneficial to such as I who have no skills in this area and no ability to travel to the places where information might be found assuming I knew how to look. So I value you and all you do very much and I bet there are hundreds of others who do also. I know you are angry, but don't let it ruin your day. And just plan some delicious revenge! Cheer up!
