Good Evening Boschong Subscribers, I am awaiting some material to come from Wood County, Ohio since I found the following information in the 1994 Winter Bushong Bulletin and wondered who this Mrs. Jacob Bushong was. I am hoping the material being sent to me will have the answer so stay tuned. 1994 Winter Bushong Bulletin Page 58 Obit and the notation from Carol: "exact identity unknown". The Wood County Sentinel Bowling Green, Ohio Thursday, 6 January 1887 DIED Mrs. Jacob Bushong of Bloom died last Thursday and was buried Sunday. She was 22 years old and leaves three children. ------------------------ Meanwhile I found this little tidbit today and although I had posted about George W. Bushong back in December 2004, January 2005, and May 2005 along with his family members, at that time, I did not have the exact date of George's death. Now we know as I found this in the Virginia State Archives at Richmond. George W. Bushong Died 7 September 1885, Haymakertown, Botetourt County, Virginia Note: He is possibly buried in the Haymakertown Cemetery. --------------------- Researched and Submitted by Gloria Bushong
Boschong Subscribers, Last month I posted about African American William Bushon living in Clinton County, Ohio. I decided to share my research with the Clinton County Ohio Genealogical Society in hopes that they could provide additional information for me. Here is what I received today from Beth Mitchell: ------------------------- Dear Gloria, I hope you are sitting down when you read this. I have the copies to back up what I have so far. William Bushon died in the County Infirmary on September 15, 1921. He is buried in the Martinsville Cemetery and the mortician was Holladay Funeral Home. I also noticed that the name of the wife changed from one census to another. I found a marriage record for William Bushon who married Rebecca Bass. He stated he was 75 years of age on the 14th day of November 1909. He gives his FATHER's name as Willis Kincade and his MOTHER's name as Tabitha Bushon. I have not had time to check land records. This is monumental for a former slave to know the name of the father and mother. On the above marriage record he notes he was previously married 2 times. I do not have an earlier marriage for him. Hope this is a good start. Beth Mitchell, researcher Clinton County Genealogical Society ---------------------------- Now we know that William Bushon married three times instead of twice. I am thinking that the 4 year old William Bushon living in the household of Sarah Johnston in the 1860 census is the son of William Bushon (Sr.) and he shows up in the 1870 census as a 14 year old in his father's household. And that some of the rest of these Bushon children are probably William's also.
