I am familiar with the decendents from Obadiah through William (I visited William and Matilda's grave outside of Fairview Ohio in May--and not for the first time). I also have been to the Fletcher Church (since burned down) where Benjamin and wife were buried (his former farm I guess)The photographs of Fletcher Church in the Betty Mann book were from me (cira 1964). I have also been to Moorestown etc New Jersey poking around (saw an 18th century bldg with a sign advertising a Haines Law Firm (Haines Borton close relationship back then). As a student I had correspondance with Hugh Borton of Haverford College who loaned me the college library copy of the Borton and Mason Families...can't do that today...but I found a reprint on the internet and purchased it. I have Jesse Borton's family Bible ...in poor condition. So good to meet a "cousin". My grandmother always told us that if we met a Borton they were someone related. Since that comment, the Bortons are more numerous in the phone book of metropolitan areas than in years past. In 1963 she and I visited Borton, Illinois and she met her cousin Ray English (he was working with his sons out in the fields). Ray's father Dr. English married my grandmother's aunt Eppa (one of Jesse's four daughters). We also visited with the owner of Jesses Farm...I have photos of the house (since pulled down) and naturally we visited the Embarrass Cemetery. At that time Isabel was disappearing. It is now gone as a town (across the road from Borton...which is not much of anything either. Many original homes are gone and replaced with mobile homes. I am sure this was a speculative venture of Jesse's (I obtained a copy of the Borton town plate from the court house in Paris Ill. I have read most every page on the Betty Mann book and am familiar with the number of Bortons who moved to Stark Cty. Thank you again for your conversation re the Bortons. You have done much more research than I have and even with errors in her books, we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Betty for her diligence. WOW is all I can say for taking on something that big. Which reminds me, again as a student I had correspondance with Homer Borton (son of Chilton). Very nice gentleman and I am sorry I did not continue it..He has since passed on. His father Chilton was my g-grandfather J. W.'s favorite cousin (back in Quaker City, O). When J. W.'s first son was born he was named Everett Chilton. And in 1943 Doctor Everett Chilton Borton delivered me on his birthday in June. Perhaps that is why with a name like Johnson (second generation Swedish) I have such an affinity for my Borton ancestors who preceeded the Revolution by 100 years. As for royalty....if you look hard and long enough...there is probably a connection for most everyone. Doesn't change much....not even a free pass to tour Windsor Castle.
