Many were outspoken, some like Ezra Borton (Born in Stark County Ohio and moved to Fulton County about 1852) were part of the Garrison movement that burned the constitution because of its protection of slavery calling it a "league with the Devil" Others were active in organizing and operating the underground railroad. Unfortunately much of this is undocumented. As we approach the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War, I am interested if anyone has information on Borton's involved in the Abolitionist Movement such as John Woolman (Grandson of John and Elizabeth Borton). Letters or other information would help. Later on Many Borton enlisted in the Civil war, but the period that I am looking at is 1750 to 1860 period.
