I have the orginal family history wrote by Asa Borton, it is a great read, he talks about hanging blankets over the doors to keep out the wolves... My favorite quote is "...about this time our kids started to get mad or married and leave home". I also have his history of the marriages and children born to each of their 10 children (up to 1883). There is the family humorous poem , and the poem read while presenting a new hat to Asa to replace the foxskin one. For those wanting to know what happned to Ahimaaz's second wife Caroline Davidson, he talks a bit about it in the family update on each child. The comment in the eopening remarks "...every little family trouble (if there ever was any) has been buried too deep to ever be remembered." is a backhand referal to the fact that this was the first time that the family got together since the Civil War when some of Asa's family tried to lynch one of Asa's son-in-laws for what they precived as southern sympathies. All sides came to this hatchet burying reunion. I also have a picture of this reunion (I think) and another one, and am a bit confused whitch is whitch and who everyone is... but great fun. Almost all of this information came from My Great Grandfather Asa Jr. I would love to have an electronic copy of the orginal Tribune articles.... If anyone wants transcriptions/copies of what I have please e-mail me at lyle.borton@comcast.net or contact me through this note.
