They are the 1st Borton's to arrive in America in 1679. My question is: What ship did they arrive in? I know they landed in Burlington County, NJ. Some have said they arrived with the HAINES in 1682 on the AMITY. I have visited the FRIENDS CEMETARY in Woodstown, NJ. There are a lot of Bortons there. If anyone needs info, I am friends with the person who has the map and all records of the cemetary if anyone is interested. I also have found John's parents names, his Grandfather, his Father names. Can anyone please tell me more info on the BORTON? Thank you. You can reach me at: susanfahrnbach@yahoo.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have been here for over 30 yrs. I was telling my son-in-law, who lives in Woodstown, about Mary Borton, John and Ann's daughter, my 6th Great Grandmother...I was telling him all I found out about the Borton's abt 2 weeks ago and he said: "Hey, you live on Borton Drive" I never even thought about that part! DUH! Then I discover about Joel! I have to visit the Historical Soc. here. Thanks so much for your reply....very nice "meeting you"! My Parents also lived in Woodstown. When we moved here my Mother wanted me to join the Quaker church. We were raised Unitarians and went to the First Unitarian Church of Phila., PA founded in the 1700's. There is also a James Borton, who may be a brother, born in 1837 in South Carolina. John Borton was the brother of Henry B. 1630-1683 from whom my Great Grandmother Julia Borton 1843-1910 descended. I have two other Borton descendants in England who have done extensive research on the English Bortons and with whom I have communicated. They all came from or around Aynho, Northants. which is a very nice little village not far from Banbury in Oxfordshire. Barbara in Ottawa, Canada.
