I know one line that changed from Bader to Borders. My line is said to have changed from Bodders to Borders. I cannot find my family line outside the US however. It stops in Pennsylvania. I do know that Borders translate to Grenzen in german. But that is not a common German surname. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. These types of errors are what frustrate me the most. How do people not notice that Matthaus Bader is born in 1707, so this means that his parents had to have been 7 yrs old when he was born..... Really?! Check you information folks before you put it out there -- OR -- maybe check the information out that you are finding on other trees before you just add it to your own. Too much false information out there and these people are making a mess of the records! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Born in Buck County, Pennsylvania. He served during the Revolutionary War as a Sergt (SGT) in North Carolina. He died in 1837 in Allen County, Kentucky. His wife's name was Esther 1770-1860. There is a lot of information I've found on his service and his family. Also there's a Revolutionary Soldier's Memorial in Munford-Crenshaw Cemetery (erected by descendants), Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky with his information. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: HanlonTX Surnames: Borders, Clutter Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.borders/270.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Noble R. Borders was the brother of Jacob Borders who married Nancy Jane Clutter. Jacob and Nancy are my ggg grandparents. Noble is living with his mother, Mary Catherine, in Jacob's Dublin Twp., Mercer Co., OH household in the 1860 census. Their surname is misspelled as Borges in this census. Jacob died of Typhoid Fever in a Regimental Hospital during the Civil War and is buried at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. He grave was moved from Cumberland Mountain, GA where he died. Nancy remarried a few years after Jacob's death. I have not been able to find Jacob or Noble in the 1850 census; however, it may be Mary Catherine Borders listed in the household of John Ellis in the 1850 Gibson Twp., Mercer Co., OH census.
