Hello Listers, Was wondering if anyone could help me. I have been going through the LDS microfilm for Eyemouth OPRs marriages and baptisms, and have couple of queries. Firstly, the surname I am researching is Landels / Landles and @the mid 1700s, I get the impression that this surname has been abbreviated. The script is difficult in places, but on numerous occasions, I`ve seen what looks like Lles as the surname. Is it possible that a surname could be abbreviated in this way? Secondly, I have also come across a Landels marriage record, which says that the couple were regularly proclaimed on such and such a date and thereafter married. They had been clandestinely married the previous year "at the Union Bridge"???? Does anyone have any ideas re this last statement. I also found other couples who had been clandestinely married. Grateful for any opinions. Nick.
