Does anyone know about Congregationalists in Selkirk, Roxburgh area and Roman Catholics before 1700 in N England. Are there any Austrailians in the group? I was wondering what info death certs in Austrailia were like turn of century to 1920s. Charlotte Interests in the borders: USHER, RAE, DOBSON, URE, JAMIESON, AITCHISON, VEITCH, EASTON, BEATTIE, HARDIE, TAIT and SANDERSON/SANDILANDS. by marriage WALLACE, SCOTT, PEARSON.
Hello Charlotte, Can't answer your question about faiths but can tell you that the death certificates in Australia give a wealth of information - if that was available of course. I am looking at one I have for 1901 - it has date and place of death, name and occupation, cause of death, duration of last illness, medical attendant, name and occupation of father, name and maiden surname of mother, informant, particulars of the registration, when and where buried, name of undertaker, name and religion of Minister and witnesses at burial, when and where born and how long in Australian Colonies or States, place of marriage, age and to whom, children of marriage. I have Scott and Tait in my family - from Hawick and Hobkirk. Both married into my Blair family from Jedburgh. Any connection do you think?
