    3. Some time ago I began a list of derivatives of "Elizabeth" and got quite a slew of variations on that theme back from many helpful people. I posted a further and similar request for anyone to send me a common Christian name or any sort with as many derivatives as they could recall--from A to Z. I was attempting to begin a list of such names to send off to RootsWeb. I had only one response to this second request. I allowed myself two weeks to collect names and organize them, but as of now, one week later, the first flush of enthusiasm has died. If there is no need for other Christian name leads then I shall stop this effort and not bother with it any more. To start things off again, I can think of the derivations of Donald, Janet, Mary, etc. that have many variations all over the British Isles. Many of which we never think to check on our path to glory. Let's try again to help each other with this scavenger hunt. Al Dempster -- The cycle of our intermingled lives brought forth the seeds of an intermingled friendship...no strings attached, none expected. "From the lone shieling of the misty island, Mountains divide us and the waste of seas; Yet still the blood is strong, the heart is Highland, And we in dreams behold the Hebrides. Fair these broad meads, these hoary woods are grand -- But we are exiles from our fathers' land." That's all for now.
