    3. Dear Heather, An English birth certificate will give both the mother's given name and maiden surname, so it sounds as if you may have the wrong entry. Keep in mind though, that the mother could be in a second marriage. Have you tried the 1881 census to see if the baby was born then? I think the census was taken in April. Hello All, I haven't done much research in Eng. and am looking for a bit of help. I have an entry from the St. Cath. index for 1881 from Newcastle/T. I e-mailed the Newcastle Registrars office and gave them the names of the parents I thought might be listed on the cert. They replied that the father matched but the mother didn't. Did these certs. for this time list the mothers maiden name or just her first name and then her married surname? Thanks, Heather Canevaro Canada ______________________________
