Hi Vicki, It is very definite that the Rutherfords from the Borders, certainly moved to other parts of the world over the last 300 years. Only my Great Grandfather,George Rutherford arrived here in 1890 and later his younger brother, James Oliver Rutherford arrived 1906/7. It is quite possible that other family members may have emigrated to Australia, Canada, USA or other parts of N.Z. Dianne Dixon, NZ.

I don't know how often it was originally published, but the 1866 edition was re-published by the Borders Regional Council in 1990 (isbn 0951675605). In it, the publishers mention that their first edition was 10 years before. Apart from frequent mention of the activities of this Kelso branch of the firm (and pages of wonderful adverts), it gives gazetteer-type info on each town and village in Berwickshire, Selkirkshire and Roxburgh, then adds lovely info such as lists of businesses, registered voters, amenities (number of shops, library, inns, etc). I've never seen new it in the shops, but it does turn up in the second hand book shops. Lesley Robertson
