    3. Hi Arline >I have Sarah >(Oliver) Smith who was born 1856 died sometime between 1886 and probably >1896. She was the wife of George Smith who was b 1851. There was also a >daughter Jessie who would have died between 1886 and 1900. I have been >unable to pinpoint Sarah or Jessie on the Scots Origins site, as I don't know >when and where they died. George Smith was the cousin of my great-grandmother Helen SMITH (b 1844) who coincidently married a Robert OLIVER (b 1845) in 1868 at Eglingham in Northumberland. Robert's father, George OLIVER, was born in Scotland in 1812. I have a considerable amount of information on the SMITH family going back to George and Helen's Grandparents Adam SMITH and Elizabeth (Betty) HALL who had ten children baptised at Gateshaw Associate Session Church at Morbattle between 1785 and 1807. I spent a day earlier this year at the Scottish Record Office in Edinburgh extracting all the SMITH baptism and marriage entries from the Gateshaw records - the majority of which fit into Adam and Betty's family - children - grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George SMITH was born at Upper Chatto, Hownam on 24 September 1851, the tenth of twelve children to George SMITH and Christian (DAVIDSON). George married Sarah OLIVER on 24 January 1876 at Morbattle. In 1881 they were living at Larden Cottage, Minto and in 1891 were at Horsleyhill, Minto (so Sarah was still alive then) with their seven children, including 7 year old Jessie. This might help to narrow your search for their deaths. Please contact me direct for more detailed information about the family and let me know where you fit in. Best wishes Jane Glass Alnwick, Northumberland
