I have found my William Bell and family in the 1841 census parish of Whitton and the 1851 parish of Roxburgh. How far back does the Scottish census go and what kind of information would be provided on the them? I have been unable to establish William Bell or his wife Jennet Whitson's birthdates or marriage date. His occupation was an agricultural labourer and I am assuming he moved around a bit. His children were all born in Morebattle. The family appear in the 1861 census in Galt, Ontario. My information indicates he was born in Edrom, Berwickshire and Jennet in Ayton but I have not found either in the OPR. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to further search for this family?
