Certainly am. I was looking for my gggrandfather on the 1881 census and found 1,914 William McKENZIE's but no gggrandfather, who I found with his father George, under McKENAN making 1,915 all variants of the surname and transposition errors. Now I having trouble with my gggggrandfather, William McKENZIE and his wife, Janet BROWN, probably born sometime between 1785 and 1790 who knows where, but probably over the border as their sons George and James were born in Bowden, Roxburgh in 1808 and 1810. I saw BROWN's on the monumental inscriptions in Bowden Kirkyard but no McKENZIEs and George was getting married in St Stephen's Edinburgh in 1830. After two children William Losh MCKENZIE born Edinburgh in 1831 and Ellen, George's family went to Otterburn and then Lunedale in the North Riding. I am still ploughing through the many possible entries on Scots Origins and the IGI for William McKENZIE and Janet BROWN. Anyone any connections please contact me. Personally I like to be sure of facts, but who can say what makes others feel good? And with a name like McKenzie you are in dead trouble anyway! Cheers Ray Veitch in Adelaide
