I have found George Atkinson age 26 in the 1851 Berwick census. He is a farmer, in the house are wife Isabella b. Scotland , son george b. Berwick and a 17yr old servant. George gives his birthplace as Norham, Nanthorn (thus my query a week or so ago). Norham appears to be on the IGI (that is the batch numbers of extractions correspond with all dates relevant) but no sign of George and no sign of him in Nenthorn either. His marriage cert 1848 gave his father as George Atkinson, a miller but I found no sign of this George on the census film. Any ideas where I could go from here? Lesley

Hi Lesley, Although Norham is in the IGI, batches P000761,P000762 however there are very few if any records after 1815, so he could well have been born there around 1825 and not appear in the IGI. Best regards - Mike Penrith, NSW, Australia
