Access to the 1871 or 1891 census may show him. Andrew, the > 4 year old in 1881, was my Grandfather. > Thanks in advance, The IGI on http://www1.familysearch.org/Search/searchigi.asp only shows John (b. 26 Nov 1865), Robert (30 Jun 1867), Jessie (b. 7 Jun 1869; her middle name is given as Rutherford), Agnes Isabella (b. 31 May 1871) and Mary (b. 7 May 1873). The IGI is pretty reliable in this time period as the data is taken from the BMDs, but it only goes up to 1875. I imagine that this indicates that James was a younger child as he doesn't appear (I also searched for "James son of Robert" and only got 2 very early 18th century boys).
