Dana I've been through the Ayton Cemetary and I have a copy of Ayton's monumental inscriptions. There are 3 Alexander's buried in the local cemetary. They read: In memory of John G Yule for upwards of 40 years station master at Ayton who died 21.2.1888 age 67 years. Mary Drummond Alexander wife of John Yule who died 12.3.1909 in her 99th (?) year. Erected in memory of Margaret Robertson spouse to Daniel Gray feuar in Eyemouth who died 16.12.1783 aged 22 years. Also Daniel Gray died 28.12.1807 aged 58 years. Also Margaret Gray their daughter wife of Robert Alexander merchant Eyemouth who died 21.3.1850 aged 67 years. Also Robert Alexander their son who was drowned in the Thames 20.5.1835 aged 19 years. Also their daughter Annie who died in Glascow 27.2.1837 aged 21 years. Also the above Robert Alexander merchant in Eyemouth who died 20.1.1860 aged 82 years. Reverse: In memory of Margaret Alexander Liggate daughter of Robert Alexander who died in Birkenhead 2.3.1874 aged 64 years. Also Daniel Gray Alexander their son who died at Virginia City California 30.7.1872 aged 60 years. Also Ann who died in Glasgow 27.2.1887 aged ? Eraected by Elizabeth Watson Purves In loving memory of her husband James Purves who died at Woodhouse Ayton 31.5.1910 aged 60 years also John their son who died at St Boniface Hospital Winnipeg Canada 11.2.1908 aged 28 years also the above Elizabeth Watson Purves who died at Rosebank Atyon 4.12.1933 aged 81 years also their daughter Agenes Cowe who died 15.8.1971 aged 91 years also their daughter Margaret Alexander who died 22.4.1975 aged 85 years. There is also an Elizabeth Wright, a Martha Wright (1891), and 2 Alexander Wright's (1840, 1850).
