Can anyone out there help with a look-up of the 1841 Census of Heriot Parish, Midlothian? I am searching for a Walter WHITSON age 50, born Innerleithen Peeblesshire and his wife Jane (NIVEN) aged about 49 and any issue. Walter was working as a shepherd at Blackhope Farm (on the Blackhope Water) in 1824.... it is a long shot but I am hoping that he may still be there (unlikely as shepherds did move around a lot). Circulating this to the BORDERs list as well as there is a Blackhope farm near Kielder Forest on the Scottish side of the border....however, I do not believe that this is where Walter was shepherding in 1824, but I may be wrong!
