----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug Leitch" <[email protected]> > It's a long time since I have seen any CHISHOLM references Alexander CHISHOLM, Grocer, is shown as the father to Ellen CHISHOLM on her marriage certificate in 1847 when she married at St Peter's Church, Monkwearmouth, County Durham. On at least three occasions in English census she stated Coldstream as her birthplace and her age points to 1826/7 as an approximate birth years. Doug Leitch has already provided us with details on one Alexander CHISHOLM [born 1787, and died 24 June 1847 in Coldstream BEW. He married (1) HELEN(NELLY) KENNEDY 4 December 1807 in Coldstream BEW. She was born 1784, and died 14 November 1827 in Coldstream BEW. He married (2) MARGARET HALL 28 May 1829 in Coldstream BEW. She was born 1791, and died 17 December 1858 in Coldstream BEW.] but Ellen does not appear anywhere on IGI or in notes of extracts from other researchers who have seen OPR/register. An intriguing entry for the banns to the wedding of Nelly and Alexander in Carham, NBL shows the then prospective bride to be Eleanor Kennity. Nellie/Eleanor/Ellen!! Which sets off a train of thought along the lines of Nelly's death and Ellen's birth being in such close proximity was one the cause of the other and a baptism overlooked ......... but nothing to help. Does anyone know if there is an entry in the Berwickshire 1837 Trade Directory showing an Alexander CHISHOLM and his listed trade?
