    3. BlankHi Everybody, I have just joined your list. I am hunting for "Kennedys". I am from Hawick, though now live in Oz. So far I have traced the following: My gggrandfather was Alexander Kennedy b1846 in Dumfries, he married Catherine McGoay (McGuie) 11/6/1875, he died 10/5/1899 at 10 Ladylaw Place, Hawick. They had 3 children - Alexander who married my ggrandmother Margaret Cowan Catherine born 5/12/1875 in Hawick don't know who she married, she had left the family home by 1891 Jane born 28/12/1877 in Hawick, she was with brother Alex on 1901 census. Unknown who she married or where she went after this time. If anyone has any of these two women on their tree, I would love to hear from you. My ggggrandfather was James Kennedy (b. 1807-20/1/1871), married Jane Garland (1812-15/11/1892) They both lived in a close off the High Street in Dumfries. Apart from Alexander they also had 4 other children - James b.1839 married Marion Grierson 17/4/1865 Mary b. 1842 married Alexander Riddle (unknown date) William b. 1848 married Agnes Bradley 16/1/1868 Menzies b. 1854 unknown If any of this means anything to anybody, again I would love to hear from you. James Kennedy's parents on his death certificate are Menzies Kennedy and Margaret McBride, I am unable to access a death cert for these two until Scotlandspeople provide new searches, which I am waiting for with baited breath. Just read the book by Vic Tookley on the Yetholm Gypsies, their is reference in it of a Alexander K and his tribe from Lochmaben having a fight with the Taits on a brig in Hawick, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were not connected to these Kennedy's after all McBride is a "tinker name". Again if anyone has any insight please let me know. Hope to hear from anybody soon. Fiona Also researching Cowan Family from Lochmaben
