Hi Katherine, " Rutherfurds Southern Couties Register and Directory" originally published in 1866, was reprinted in 1990 by the Borders Regional Coucil and the Borders Regional Library. I think it is out of print but it is likely available in many of the libraries. It also might be available second hand at a second hand book site. It is a very useful publication since it contains descriptions of the communities.
