ALEX. HORNE [25], farm servant, Brae & Pert, nr Montrose, was cycling with two companions and at Hillhead of Hedderwick, collided with Miss FERRIER, an elderly lady residing in the district. Horne was thrown heavily from his machine, and received serious injuries to his head, being rendered unconscious. Miss Ferrier suffered much from shock, and both were taken to the royal Infirmary. > DRIVING ACCIDENT AT BERWICK Mr PETER ROBSON, butcher, Berwick, accompanied by a lad, was last night driving into Berwick. When at Castle Terrace the horse took fight, and the animal ran up the embankment at the side of the road. Mr Robson was thrown out of his machine, and the wheels passed over both his legs. The horse bolted, but at the railway bridge Constable GOODALL succeeded in stopping the animal. The lad escaped injury. The Scotsman Tues, 29 May 1866 pg.2 > Berwick Child Drowned on sat. night, a child named JAMES SCHOOLER, aged 2½yrs, s. of a pitman living at Richardson's Stead, Berwick, was drowned by falling into a well. > Yesterday morning, a JOHN McLEOD, aged 21, living at Spittal, was seriously injured at Townhill colliery, nr Berwick. The man was working in a pit, when i portion of the roof fell upon him. He is very much injured, though hopes are entertained of his recovery. > Yesterday morning, a boy, ROBERT SCOTT, was very seriously, though it is thought, not fatally, injured at the brick kilns in the immediate vicinity of the above colliery.
