Does anyone have access to the OPRs for Ancrum,1840-1852,? perhaps you can help sort out this puzzle, >From the IGI, I have recorded the births of the children of THOMAS BROWN and ISABELLA TURNBULL, all Ancrum; Thomas ch 29th Mar 1840, Richard ch 28th Jan 1843, Isabella ch 1st Mar 1845, Elisabeth Davidson Brown b 3rd April 1846, Janet Ann b 10th Nov 1856, John McEwan Brown b 12th June 1859, notice the gap between 1846 and 1859, the only Margaret Scott Brown is recorded as the dau of Archibald Brown and Isabella Turnbull b 21st May 1854, they also had ,dau Agnes b 3rd Jan 1849 and son George b 9th June 1852. I also checked these on Scotland's People with the same result. So did the minister make a mistake and write Archibald instead of Thomas, or are they the same person? In 1861 the family all appear to be living together in Ancrum; Thomas Brown age 44, Isabella Brown age 44, Thomas age 21, Richard age 18, Isabella age 16, Elizabeth age 14, Agnes age 11, George age 8, Margaret S Brown age 6, Janet Ann age 4, John age 1. the family are on 2 pages and I have not seen the image.
