Hi Jim, In your 11th Feb mail you say "...ANY note of Balmers would be enormously welcome" . I have an Elizabeth (Betty) BALMER marrying a James TURNBULL on 19th June 1803 at St Boswells. She was born abt 1785. No other details about her, I'm afraid, and she's the only BALMER in my tree so far. Regards, Ian Small

There were two Elizabeths born in the right time frame but well out of the area - Angus and Fife. We still have some way to go on this line. William may have been a son of Stephen Balmer and Agnes Irvine, married at Ancrum 6 Nov 1748, but so far I have no definite proof of Betty's lineage.
