I am trying to establish that my 5x great grandfather William Stevenson, who married in Haltwhistle NBD in the 1760s was the same William Stevenson who was bapt in Oxnam, Rox in 1740. An earlier researcher found he was, but the source has been lost. I've hunted high and low for the connection, to no avail. But I am wondering if the clue might be found in an earlier irregular marriage. The William married in Haltwhistle was a herd on farms near Falstone when two of his children were baptised, which places him close to Hyndhope and Bloodilaws, where the Oxnam family were herds.
