Hello Listers, Can anyone tell me where in 18th century Roxburghshire Wolfelee was situated? Many thanks, Marie Rowan.
Hi Marie, In the 1851 census, Wolfelee, Wolfelee House and Wolfelee Glen, along with Wolfehopelee, were in the parish of Southdean; Wolfelee Farm was in the parish of Hobkirk. Hope this helps, Graham Maxwell
Marie There is a lot about Wolfelee in the book written by George Tancred " Rulewater and its People" He says the name was originally Woollee, and when it was rebuilt in 1825 - 1827, the name was changed, probably because of the neighbouring farm of Wolfhopelee.
