Hello Barbara, In response to your question about any Ellen/Helen PATERSON occuring in my family history - The name Ellen (or Helen) occurs frequently among the descendants of Francis PATERSON & Helen CLARK. But Francis was born in 1794 as mentioned in my previous message, his wife Helen's birthdate is still unknown, and I don't know if Francis had a sister (or paternal aunt) named Helen. Francis & Helen PATERSON lived near Jedburgh in a cottage at Timpendean Farm, where he was farm steward. Their children - John b. 5 Sep 1823 Roxburgh marr. Margaret TAYLOR 1845 (emigrated to Canada 1853 - my grgrgrandparents) Andrew b. 7 Nov 1825 marr. Helen ELLIOT 1859 (innkeeper in Hawick) Christian b. 2 Jan 1828 - no further info - (may have married George MURRAY 1848) Margaret b. 10 Jun 1830 - marr. William (Will) SCOTT 1851 (Timpendean Farm, then Spylaw Farm near Kelso) Francis b. 28 Mar 1832 - marr. Christina WHITE 1856 (railway worker in Edinburgh) Agnes b. 20 Jul 1834 - marr.
