    1. [BORDER] LIETCH 1851 census and 1811 Marriage

    3. I just wanted to say a further thank you to Graham, Lesley, Susan and Marion for their additional help regarding Isabella LIETCH's 1811 marriage and her 1851 census record under her married name of HARDY/HARDIE. I've e-mailed the Scottish Borders Archive & Local History Centre at Selkirk for a copy of the microfilm record of the LEACH/HARDY 1811 marriage. Hopefully it will give me some helpful info. Alas, it turns out that the promising 1851 census entry that Graham so kindly found has proven to belong to a different Isabel HARDIE. The 1851 Isabella's maiden name was RIDDELL and her husband, James, was still alive in the 1841 census. My Isabella HARDY nee LIETCH was already a widow in 1841. As I said to Graham, even negative results can help to move research forward because they eliminate some of the possibilities! I'll keep forging ahead and hopefully one day I'll get lucky and make a break-through. Again, many thanks for your help. Kind regards, Eleanor
