    3. Hi, I've been trying to translate a will from the 1749s and have the same problem. That was until I went to www.scottishdocuments.com and went to the section on "sums of money". The rest of the will is in Latin, what a pain............................................fun though! I have been looking for a will for the time of around 1720 to 1730 and the numbers look very strange - they look like b's I's and j's which I think refers to pounds shillings and pence in that order but I could be completely wrong. Also is there anything on the web that explains how dates were written. There is a word on the will which I cant make out but appears to refer to the dates that things happened as the numbers after this word are clearly indicating dates. It appears to mean 16 but I don't want to assume that. Thanks for your assistance.
