Arthur, some of my ancestors were weavers / miners / farmers, all in the same generation and later generations became "coal owners", so it's always possible that yours also became more affluent as time went by, having said that --trying to find ancestors in Scotland in the 1700's is nigh impossible at times . It was helpful to receive your message. I will follow >> it >> up but my ancestors in Scotland were weavers and probably never owned land >> ! >> >> Greetings for Christmas. >> >> Arthur Rutherford ============================================================================ = Hello again Mike, My ancestors moved from Weaving to Coal Mining too ! I agree with you, it is extremely difficult to get any records around 1700 from Scotland parishes. I got ANDREW RUTHERFORD and ISOBEL SCOT's children from the LDS Film 559522 Associate Sesssion Congregation Jedburgh. The first child George was b. 2.8.1752 and C. 13.9.1752 but no place of residence. The next four children, Walter, Andrew, Robert, Thomas, all had birth dates and all Baptism dates and all at Hundhaughlee, Jedburgh. I just wonder if Andrew and Isobel were living somewhere else when George was born and then moved to Hundhaughlee in 1753/54 ? If so, I wonder what records we should search ? Could any lister in the Group give me their thoughts and suggestions please? Christmas Greetings to all who read this. Arthur Rutherford.
