    2. Creann, I don't have any information for you but I am in desperate need of your help if it is within your expertise. I am trying to solve a puzzle with my Mathers from the Borders area. I am from America so forgive me if I make any blunders. My earliest Mather is Andrew. I don't have a birthdate on him but it would be ca.1889. I have found his marriage record in the IGI as such:May 21, 1809 to MARTHA Ricarby Norham, Northumberland, England. There is a record on IGI for Robert Mather ch.3-10-1812 Golden Square Presby. Father:Andrew Mather Mother:Martha . There is a record for John Mather ch.4-8-1814Golden Square Presby. Father:Andrew Mather Mother:Margaret(?).Elizabeth Mather ch.3-17-1816 Golden Square Presby. Father: Andrew Mather Mother: Margaret. The second son John Mather is my ancestor. We were always told his father was also John Mather and mother was Martha Rickaby(Ricarby). Now there is also a Margaret thrown in to the mix. Is there any way you could check this out for me? Possibly the marriage of Andrew and Martha in 1809? Maybe she was Martha Margaret Ricarby or something? If you can help I would appreciate it. Thanks, Margaret

    3. Margaret, Thought I would send this to the list as someone else out there may be interested, sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. Here are the full entries for Berwick Golden Square: 1812, 10 March MATHER Robert son of Andrew Mather an Husbandman at Murton & Martha his wife. Born at Murton aforesaid 10 March. 1814, 8th April MATHER John son of Andrew Mather and Margaret his wife of Goswick, Holy Island Parish. Born 27 March. 1816, 7 March MATHER Elizabeth daughter of Andrew Mather a servant with Mr Weir at Goswick and Margaret his wife. Born 19 February. Unfortunately I only have baptismal and MI records for Norham so have been unable to check the marriage for you, I did check for a birth for Andrew but nothing relevant I'm afraid. I have found on the I.G.I. a marriage for an Andrew MATHER and a Margaret RIDPATH on Holy Island on June 13, 1776 - would make them pretty old when John and Elizabeth were born (around 60) but I suppose it is possible! Sorry I haven't been able to help very much. Kind Regards Creann
