Hello everyone, This is my first posting and I am trying to locate my GGGGrandfather Joseph LAIDLAW. I know very little about him so it is like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack, but I have to start somewhere and this is it. What I know (from 1881 & 1891Census) is that he was born in Scotland around 1835. From his Marraige Certificate I know that his father was James LAIDLAW who was a Joiner. That is all I have to go on. Could someone be so kind as to tell me where in Scotland a LAIDLAW was most likely to originate from? Am I subscribed to the correct List? I have tried the IGI which revealed no matches for a Joseph LAIDLAW. It did however come up with several possibilities for a James LAIDLAW mostly around Selkirk and Hawick. Hence my subscription to this list. I know it's a long shot but hoping someone can help. Thanks Jay W North Yorks
