Greetings all, Can anyone tell me what parish (s) Sington and Castleton, Roxburgh are/were in? I have some Scotts that were born in both; in the 1700 & 1800's. thanks, Peggy
Not sure about Sington, but I do know that Singdean (or Singden) was a farm in the parish of Castleton. In the 1st half of the 19th century, a Walter Scott (m. Elspeth Telfer) was shepherd there. A short biography of Walter is included in a book by George Tancred, _Rulewater and its People_ (1904, but reprinted recently by the borders FHS).
