I think the Daniel McCluskey you mention staying at Creighton Court, Charles Street, Whitehaven, must be my Daniel as he does not show up in Brampton on the 61, 71 census. I did wonder where he went to, but could not trace him. He arrived back in Brampton on the 1881 Census. What did it say about Daniel on the 1861 Census reference age, where born, occupation? Is he on the 1871 Whitehaven Census? Do you think your 4x Grandfather, James McCluskey and John McCluskey born in Ireland around 1790-1795 are brothers? I noticed on the 1881 Census at 3 Dickenson St, Whitehaven, Michael Murray, Catherine, wife; children Ellen, Sarah, Margaret, John Joseph, James Mary, Michael, James McCluskey - widower 72 born Ireland. This would be the 8 children you mentioned. I have come to a dead end in my searches and would really like to hear back from you as to how your research is progressing.
