John MCMELLON b 1804 Coalminer possibly born in Northumbria or Cumbria d. ? US Margaret MCMELLON b 1800 d ? US children: John Jr. b 1828/9 d ? in US coalminer Mary b 1831/2 d ? William b 1834/5 d ? in US coalminer (my gg grandfather) m. Ellen Salsbury Jane b 1836/7 d ? Robert b 1839/40 d ? Elizabeth b 1848/9 d. ? This family left England 6/1852 arriving in Philadelphia 8/31/1852. As mentioned the men were coalminers. I have found in the IGI a large group of MCMILLEN/MCMELLON/MCMILLAN in Northumbria and Cumbria. How do find which parishes contained coalmines? I have not had any luck in locating this family in any of the parish census films I have ordered to date. But I am ordering blindly. HELP! Ed McMillen New Mexico
