    3. hi gary its the length of a bit of string question really a) the missing bit is Georges occupation innit? This could give a clue as to what area he might have moved to, also the chance to find him in directories. b) any family events during the years in question? Example - if George was informant on the death cert of one of his parents. cheers Judy ---------- >From: Gary Carruthers <[email protected]> >To: [email protected] >Subject: [BORDER] Census >Date: 31, Sun Aug, 2003, 8:07 am > > Hi List, > > I wonder if anyone can advise me as to the best way to locate a family > "somewhere in Scotland or maybe even England between the years 1831-1860"? > So far I have found their whereabouts between the years : > > 1816-1824 - Pathhead, St Mungo, Dumfries > 1825-1830 - Dryfesdale, Dumfries > 1831-1860 - ????? > 1861-1873 - Mauchline, Ayr > 1881-1884 Ecclefechan, Dumfries > > The names in question are: > > George Carruthers born 1796 born St Mungo > Elizabeth nee Carlyle 1798 Lochmaben > Children: > Jane Carruthers 1823 St Mungo > Mary Carruthers 1825 Dryfesdale > William Carruthers 1827 Dryfesdale > Richards Carruthers 1829 Dryfesdale > > Your advice would be appreciated. > > Regards > Gary Carruthers > Australia > > > ==== BORDER Mailing List ==== > Borders includes Selkirkshire, Roxburghshire, Berwickshire, Peebleshire.
